Been thinking about why this is annoying me so much, and I think it's about how narrowing and shitty a thing it is to be so rich. For anyone else, sushi is an event meal, you plan for it, you splurge on it, you go somewhere that knos what they're doing because culinary arts are an art to appreciate.

That's what eating well is for almost everyone, a chance to experience a flavor that's either beyond your skill set or outside of your tendencies as an at-home cook. If you want a fucking hamburger, then get one from the MANY places where they make that their whole deal. Get a good one! A fancy one!

If you're that rich you can spend forty bucks on a god damn hamburger smothered in gruyere or whatever. Doing something like this is being incurious, rude, and shitty as a power move. The idea that literally everyone else is just a servant and not a professional in their own right. Trash narcissism.

It's not novel or anything to say that being rich like this makes you less human, but when the rich literally come out and say "Ha ha, my son is so cool for being incalculably selfish and shitty and not knowing even the most basic parts of the social contract," well it's hard not to get pissed.

The refusal to even pretend to take what they're doing seriously is genuinely eating at me. It's people dying! Real people! Not fiction! Many of them children so far! This is so infantilizing, cheap, and degrading to all involved. Makes me feel lost and insane, which is maybe the point.
