I was about to dive down a rabbit hole of debugging a really weird rendering issue when I played Mythmatch on my TV and was saved by @autumnpioneer.bsky.social who told me to check if it was my TV just putting on weird settings. It was indeed that. 😅

Every character in Mythmatch has some part of me like Hephaestus foolishly worshipping crunch, Penelope's anxiety over public scrutiny, Philo's struggle to make friends, and Artemis finding family based on values instead of blood.

But also, I named this cow Agamoomnon to get my name in the game.

Yeah. Having a great team can really minimize the amount of process required. But I will so also having most of the design and all of the programming within my brain reduced a TON of overhead. For most issues, I never even had to put it into words, if that makes any sense.

I didn't track it but production was very small. If I were to ballpark,

Programming - 40%
Design - 20%
Writing - 5%
QA - 15%
Marketing - 10%
Biz Dev - 5%
Production - 5%

Something like that. I had an amazing team that really only needed the lightest structure.

RIP Dionysus in Mythmatch. 😭

We really tried to make it work. We even made his minigame about tea making instead of alcohol to avoid ratings problems. But eventually, Hephaestus took his place and I think it was a much better fit.

In game development, it's very common not everything made it to the end. Dionysus is one of the gods that has a complete set of #characterdesign but sadly still been left behind. Never the less it was great fun design him. #indiegame #Mythmatch

Thank you! I hope so too, but also, I'm in a really privileged position with Knights and Bikes still selling well so I'm glad I was able to pay the team what I considered an acceptable wage. So getting anywhere into the positive numbers would make me happy.

And this made me laugh, but I calculated the day rate by discipline and I am the programming category. 😂

Hopefully that number will come up over time.
