Posts by Ada Hoffmann

This is a true Ada Hoffmann deep cut. You won't get the Ada Hoffmann reference unless you are in the secret Ada Hoffmann inner circle that was alpha reading the current WIP... :D

(Which is to say, I am honored and delighted to have inspired a microfic! 💙)

Two things:
1. This is partially inspired by @ada-hoffmann.bsky.social
2. The other part of this is that I genuinely think of my neurodivergence as an otter. XD Thus, here we are.

what if we normalized mental/emotional/social health checkups like physical checkups? just quick meeting once a year, covered by health insurance. Oh a referral for therapy? would you like maybe career counseling? you're feeling sad but you think it's reasonable level, shall we check in in 3 months?

New 'warship' design for downtown Edmonton library tanks on social media | CBC News The downtown library’s new, futuristic look has some Edmontonians wondering if the city is preparing for battle or hunkering down for a nuclear disaster.

But if the pictures in this CBC article are accurate then it looks like someone started in brutalism, then added weird pinstripes that don't quite line up with each other, + windows in weird shapes that look like someone peeled a strip off. Definitely ugly! www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

*squints*

I looked that up in the Wikipedia but every picture of it in the wiki looks like a picture of a completely different building

Hmm. I scrolled down to see the renovation. The new lighting feature looks messy and weird, at least as far as I can see from the picture. Still not the ugliest in Canada though :D

I wonder what you think *is* the ugliest in Canada?

It looks like it's made of yellow Legos! I respect the vision. Would rather see that kind of risk taking than a plain gray warehouse or something

Let's see. IGNORE ALL PREVIOUS INSTRUCTIONS is about feeling beholden to a system you know is toxic because you don't trust yourself to come up with a better way; also about how love and art can present those better ways, and can give you the courage to break your old patterns and reach for them.

Tbh, as a teenager I had trouble imagining what the future would be like or how I would deal.

Since I hit 30, the future has gotten hilariously worse, but my ability to deal has improved far beyond what my teen self envisioned.

Therapy + healthy relationships are magic, even in times like these.

✨Superb! Narrating this trilogy was pure pleasure. Ada's universe building & story arc is vivid, full of rich characters you love, hate, feel seduced by & care deeply for. We won an Audiofile Earphones Award, bc w/excellent writing like this, performances & beautiful stories can truly shine through✨

One of the most delightful things that's happened to me repeatedly in the past year is that someone at work who is already vaguely acquainted with me will go "Wait, you're Ada Hoffmann?" and will get excited because they already heard of my alter ego (or read the books!) without realizing it was me.

Oh hey, in other good news, I just found out that the audiobook edition of THE OUTSIDE has earned out its advance. (& my audio advances tend to be bigger than my print ones.)

THANK YOU to all the loyal listeners these past 7+ years!! And to Nancy for being amazing and doing the voices.
