Iran was a signatory to The 1970 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Agreement.
They have never had a nuclear weapon.
Benjamin Nutanyahu has been warning that Iran would have one imminently since 1986.
Your reminder that right-wing populists don't actually care what 'the people' think. They only care about pushing their own agendas through, and riling up 'anti-elite' (read: anti-evidence, anti-expert) sentiment to aid and abet their schemes.
I say it too often, but: many public policy problems are challenging and involve complex trade-offs and difficult to measure outcomes, but also many of our problems are basically us just slamming our heads into the wall repeatedly at a societal level, and we could stop at literally any time.
And when they buy their first vehicle, they will want a REALLY BIG TRUCK!
Not for the first time noting some of the most enthusiastic proponents of online community meetings I've encountered are city staff who were astonished at how much more diverse participation became when it didn't mean needing to find a babysitter. Naturally, councillors want to kill it with fire.
It’s about land.

Hey @royalbcmuseum.bsky.social - why are you using an AI generated image when you have a wealth of digitized images and paintings from the gold rush that you could use?
Today is National Exercise Day so here’s a list of my ten favourite exercises…

This is bad news. Also i think every article that mentions our $1.2 B deficit should also note that it was created by the current government. And they just keep digging. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
Doug Ford wants to open Toronto Island Billy Bishop airport to jets.
Doug Ford buys a jets for himself with taxpayer money.
I think Doug Ford is buying a jet and an airport for himself…..
P.S.: Can you imagine if Kathleen Wynne had done something similar ?

When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a communist."

I haven't yet heard of a data centre integrating sustainably into any area.
For example, recently a Nevada energy company said it'll stop supplying power to Tahoe because of the energy required by a data centres. Ireland had to put a moratorium on data centres because of energy and water usage.
Governments that have to pick their voters to remain in power are not legitimate governments worthy of being called democratic. Politicians choosing their voters is about as undemocratic as it gets.
Five alarm fire for democracy in Canada.
Not just Alberta.
The whole country.
Not hyperbole. When we take away effective representation, we no longer have a real claim to being a liberal democracy. If Alberta gets away with this, other provinces will follow.
A 15-year-old boy was struck by a driver at a Mount Dennis site that had a speed camera until Premier Ford ordered them removed provincewide. Residents say it might not have prevented the collision - but it helped keep speeds down www.thestar.com/news/gta/mou...

I am going to need a moment while revisionist economic history tells me Stephen Harper saved us from the 2008 financial crisis … and not post depression bank policy and post 2006 cdn economists begging for intervention but what do I, I signatory to latter letter, know
Instead of asking chatgpt, why not ask a librarian? You'll get real answers and they won't tell you to kill yourself.
The province seems to have lots of money for resource industries, but not so much for human services.
I don't know why this is so hard for some people to grasp. If we extend our use of fossil gas, rather than going all-out for grid batteries, heat pumps and induction hobs, we extend our dependence on *foreign* sources of gas, regardless of whether we also use the UK's last remaining reserves. 🧵
"Some may argue that negotiating yourself out of a situation of your own making only to walk away with less than nothing is no cause for celebration. Au contraire. It actually takes a lot of courage to do something that nobody asked for at great personal expense."
Having just lost a PowerPoint for reasons no documentation will explain, I have come to believe that forcing people to use Office365 and One Drive for their income should be considered an act of violence.

Populism is a fundamentally dishonest form of politics, that attracts fundamentally dishonest people.
It is a tissue of lies that validates the darkest prejudices, and covers up the most blatant greed and corruption.
It generates wealth for the few, and suffering for the many.

When Alex Pretti was armed in Minneapolis, ICE killed him for it, but OK.
Apropos of nothing, just something I think about a lot:
During the worst pandemic in a century, lots of people told a bunch of outrageous lies that caused much, much more death. It was one of the more grotesque moral crimes I've ever witnessed & zero (0) of those involved faced any consequences.
Wonder if NS would be any better with old fracking sites.
