The "death of rural America" claim is vastly overrated.

Madison Mercantile (@madisonmercantile.bsky.social) in Madison, Minnesota (pop. 1,500) is home to one of the most innovative places I've ever seen - powered by the irrepressible @krisshelstad.bsky.social.

I keep thinking about how the horse-race approach to election coverage by the news media (including journalists like me) have created the illusion of dramatic election night vote reversals and surprise vote results.

We've got ourselves a whole movie plot here, people.

"chilling freemason mafia network" "Athanor lodge in the western Parisian suburb of Puteaux" "botched contract killing" "bored spies" "she was...simply a rival business coach" "the murder of a race car driver"

From a small Minnesota conference room, grappling with 'wicked problems' 100 Minnesota high schoolers look to 'bridge' the problems that divide us

Interesting to observe "civic bridging" in person, by some incredibly bright young people. Maitreya Reeder, the young woman speaking in the lead photo, should probably just run for Congress now. My latest, from Willmar, Minnesota: www.wctrib.com/news/minneso...

Hmm. Either ICE is changing its clothing and approach tactics (One guy by himself? No tac gear? Plainclothes? No mask?), or this same rando with a fake badge.

Calling states "red" and "blue" based on presidential results not only ignores the partisanship of other statewide votes but also ignores how lousy those descriptors are at the presidential level.

Really appreciate this data reporting from the @startribune.com, which comes with the appropriate cautions about the crowd-sourced data. Looks like the ICE/DHS surge in MN is down significantly, but (a) was HUGE compared to other cities, (b) impacted the suburbs A LOT, and (c) is still happening.
