I do understand, I would argue it’s the impulse towards Protestantism lol. This is why there are first *and* second Baptist, Methodist, and Presbyterian churches in every small city in the USA. Schism is real.

When people try to distinguish themselves from Christian nationalists by saying they’re “not real Christians” or whatever, I’m like, eh, that sounds pretty defensive.

As a believer myself, after being raised in an extreme fundamentalist sect, leaving for almost two decades, then returning, I kind of love the old cliche attributed to St. Francis of Assisi: preach the gospel every day and if you must, use words.
