Imagine how much better the quality of politicians would be if we treated them, financially, like we do other professions that actually matter. All of these below start on way below £80k and, generally, you only get to a higher salary if you make a positive impact.

Aye. Starmer saw to that. If only he was effective at doing actual real things.
Better than nowt at all I guess.
Who ironically was the last PM who wanted to change the country. But just in a really evil way. I know he won’t be left enough for you, but Burnham? Feels like he actually wants to do stuff at least. Unless I’m just helplessly hopeful.
I genuinely don’t get it. If I had the job of PM I’d be thinking right, I’ve got four years, I’m going to do this according to my principles. Hit it hard, realise I won’t please everyone. And what I believe in either works or doesn’t. I realise there are complexities to the job, but still.
Probably 1% of all of this and how far it reaches will reach the public. But knowing this, at least, helps us realise that there’s always another 99%.
Aye. Feels right.
Have you got Microsoft Outlook? Stick it on the list.
@blindboyboatclub.bsky.social Saw this photo today and instinctively thought it was you.
This is 100% true and I thought this very thing today.
Not for Furling and Heggem we didn’t. We had one bidder and one bidder only. And we need the money, especially given he’s an academy product. Only way we could’ve got more was an auction but no one else came in.
Aye. Looks like just Southampton this time round. They also know we need cash. And he’s not at the level yet to attract an auction of bigger clubs to push the price up. Feels like his ceiling is the Championship to me. Hopefully, I’m wrong and we get a nice sell on chunk further down the line.
Tom Fellows does only one thing really well. He’d be too easy to stop in the PL. So the fee seems ok for a good player at this level. If he had real pace or could cut inside and get goals it would be different and bigger clubs would be bidding more. Might develop but right now he’s a bit limited.
Issac Price is pure Mowbray 2008.
Quite a bit of peak Kevin Donovan about Isaac Price. Got the hair and long sleeve shirt going on too.
@footballcliches.bsky.social if you can name me another manager whose first and second names are UK holiday resorts I will give you £20. (Coombe and Westward).
Little look at Twitter today. And we have ‘Fartcoin’ asking Grok about whether Lucy Letby been set up.
Genuinely, how long will it take for the majority to realise that the West picks and chooses its genocides based solely on its own economic and geopolitical interests? I mean, it couldn’t be in any plainer sight right now.
(Your Twitter post explaining it)
I absolutely acknowledge the downsides but it is also an amazing gift to have as well. And your work on here and Twitter really showcases it. PS: The @blindboyboatclub.bsky.social podcasts are a great touch point. Like you, he discovered his autism later in life and he talks about it so clearly.
What an incredible post. I’ve followed your work for a long time now, and as a neurotypical person I am relentlessly astonished by the data and patterns you share on here. I have no idea how you do that - well I guess I do now…
Favourite post so far. ‘This is like Kendrick v Drake, except they’re both Drake’.
Absolutely agree with that approach. Just wish we were looking at someone who had done that at first team level. Even if it was further down the pyramid.
He might be, but the chances are slim. Every appointment is a risk but it’s much, much bigger when they’ve never been a head coach before. You’re right about the fanbase; fingers crossed he gets off to a really good start.
Feels it. I’m all for young managers but I’d like to see a trajectory first. Many, many more assistant managers fail in their first role than succeed.
Very much hope I’m wrong but not convinced by the potential Mason appointment, at all.
I wonder if we’ll ever have a PM who so strongly believes in something, they don’t care if they lose the next election. Because I’m not sure anything can get better for people until then.
@footballcliches.bsky.social Feels overly complex.
Liverpool have been elite-Megson tonight.
Oi, you leave Admiral Fitzwallace out of this.
