Me listening to the boys watch Pokemon with the original Team Rocket after playing #Pokopia, crying: “to extend our reach to the stars above” 😭😭😭😭
9 yo has brown eyes and does not approve of this caste system
I point out that a mink we see is the only mammal we’ve seen out of all the animals. Oldest says “except humans!”. 👀👀👀 I have to define “Priest” because I am an atheist and have never taken them to church 😂 thoroughly enjoying myself
In my very slow read of The Way of Kings. Shallan has reached Karbranth. Oldest is AFFRONTED that Vorin men aren’t allowed the read, middle kid said they are being good Vorin men because I’m reading to them.
It’s Moonbound by Robin Sloan!
Replying so I can come back when I remember what post apocalyptic book I read where sentient beavers were a benevolent part of rebuilding the world after a climate change disaster
#wayofkingsspoilers We have finished chapter 3 (Kaladin). middle child said he thinks Kaladin is lucky and has survived because of “the blue girl” being with him even when he was younger 😱 The older child thinks Kaladin was made a slave “because of the shardbearer”. I am enjoying myself THOROUGLY
In the chapter where you are with Cenn. “Where is Szeth?” “Kaladin is good at fighting!” “I don’t know if I like that we are following A WHOLE NEW PERSON”
More questions from tonight, finishing the prologue: What are the shardblades made of? Wait, who is the main character (um… sorry boys, we haven’t met either of them yet)? What ARE the most important words a man can say? #thewayofkings
I fully believe the reason I get so many more books done a year than I did 5 years ago is my dedication to waiting for it from the library on Libby then having 21 days with a number of people waiting to finish it. Enjoy Foundryside!
Current questions: what happened to the guy those nine other people left? Are they immortal? what is Stormlight? What is a Spren? Isn’t it a bad idea to have your assassin wear white? Among others
The younger one was already read Tress and Yumi
I read the two prologues of The Way of Kings to my almost 7 and 9 year olds yesterday and they were *locked in*. At the pace I’m reading it’s going to take just over a year and a half to read it all if we don’t skip any days 😂 #thewayofkings #cosmere
Me finally watching the new episode of Knight of the seven kingdoms, whispering “Honor is dead, but I’ll see what I can do” #asoiaf #cosmere
Loot that drops after defeating me:

I think the most Important lesson was from Lura Thok. And I'm here for absolutely all of it. ❤️🖖
#StarfleetAcademy is so referential like Lower Decks was! I was so excited to see an exocomp that had a named styled like Peanut Hamper! We need more Almond Basket 😅
Youngest is very annoyed at floating ghost Arwen. “How’d SHE get here?!”
Middle child also asked “Why is he white?” And I got to say “oh my god, you can’t just ask someone why they are white”
Middle child asked why EVERYONE is in love with Aragorn
My husband got to pass on the lore of Viggo’s broken foot.
Today we are watching the Two Towers
When Boromir died oldest turned to me and asked why I chose such an inappropriate movie
Oldest yelled YEET when they were throwing the smaller Fellows across the staircase in the mines
Youngest waved and said “bye” to Boromir as he went over the falls in his funeral boat
Oldest (9) is convinced Gandalf is alive because he yelled “fly!”
Youngest child (4) yelled “bye bye you little bugger” to the Balrog as it fell
Middle child (7) asked if the elves were “like Santa’s elves”
Some highlights from showing my children Lord of The Rings for the first time:
