Thoughtful and funny. I can see why he gets paid to write four jokes every two weeks now. @savetheobs.bsky.social #StewartLee youtu.be/PFLim2CRDyI?...
And this (viz a viz Times piece) is what actually was voted through..

@fletcherr.bsky.social Times biz desk report on recent developments in Guardian dispute with its NUJ chapel is completely inaccurate. Could you look into it please?
@lukebailey.bsky.social @eleanormia.bsky.social please can you raise with your comment ed.. you are the only two I paper journos easy to find on bsky. Thanks!
Further to last post… what was actually voted on this week
No definitely don’t expect support. Just asking for accurate reporting

While we’re at it, the I paper is also leaving standards at the door. The writer of this comment piece fails to declare that (a) James Harding gave her job as editor of the Today programme and (b) her husband is partner at Brunswick PR - a biz partner of Tortoise Media. 🙄 inews.co.uk/opinion/obse...
I am amazed the Times would publish something like this. Have they dispensed with fact checkers/subs? Did the reporter miss the bit on the training course where you learn to invite comment from / check the story out with people on both sides? Is it ok to just paste in a quote from a PR and be done?
Wow. This article claiming journalists ‘voted through the sale of the Observer’ is completely inaccurate. Simply untrue. The journalists voted for a mitigation package giving better terms. The deal was signed before Christmas against the wishes of G&O journalists.🧵

Spot the difference… (Guardian vs FT)
Just when you thought it couldn’t possibly get any worse… 😔
Don't have a regular subscription to The Guardian, but I've just cancelled my monthly direct debit to it which I'd set up to support it. @theguardian.com I will not reinstate it until I hear that the Scott Trust has scrapped its crazy and unnecessary sale of The Observer. @savetheobs.bsky.social

I’m a lifelong Guardian and Observer reader and I think a full refund is the least you can do having seemingly abandoned CP Scott’s mission to uphold UK liberal journalism and behave with integrity.

I would like to cancel my subscription and I also request the money I’ve handed over to date be refunded. I’m outraged by the behaviour of GNM’s management and feel I have been persuaded to donate funds by false promises.

I have been reading and watching reports of the Guardian’s sale of the historic Observer to a loss making digital startup - despite having £1.3bn in the bank that the Scott Trust chooses not to invest in the title - with dismay.
Wow!
Obs friend just told me that they are getting reports of furious readers not just cancelling subscriptions but also demanding a refund for their supporter donations - and at least one has received a near-full refund!
This is the letter one sent 🤯🔥

URGENT: the strikes have made a breakthrough:
"..as MPs table early day motion."
Politicians express “serious concerns” about Observer sale
This could and should be a significant turning point, and they should be cheering down on the picket line.
Gov petition next?

👀 Memo to the Scott Trust:
“We are often told how much our support is appreciated. It would be nice if someone rewarded our support by asking our opinion on the plan to sell off the Observer.”
Our readers would like a word.

Fury has not subsided at the Graun, then…⬇️
Oh, and ANOTHER one… it really is impossible to find anyone except Scott Trust / GMG board members and Tortoise media bosses who think this is a good idea 🤔
And another stinging letter, this one from the esteemed foreign correspondents and editors of the Guardian ⬇️⬇️
Thanks for your coverage, @thenewsagents.com
