Day 21: Candy
Describe the candies you'd commonly find in your world.

#BonApriltit DAY 21
From chocolate to sugar sculptures, candy can take many, *many* forms. What sorts of candies are most popular in your world? If you have a character with a sweet tooth, what kinds of confections are they munching on?

Nah. Shuttled off to a zoo so their populations can be better managed and educated. Full-on hopepunk, and also, mass-death opens the door to cross-species infection. That and having a far-future bee colony accompanied by their human companion reflect on what-once-was is more fun. ;)

Ngl, I might have a doc open to plan this now. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Alien: "We have also created a device so that your ambassadors may communicate what your planet would require to join our galactic alliance."

Tiny, high-pitched voice: "Our planet requests flowers!"

Alien: "Our communicators have been calibrated to interface with the highest form of life on your planet." *mists a lovely perfume while the wearer engages in an elaborate dance*

The fact that bees are objectively considered to be more ecologically important than humans is delightful, but also, it makes me want a sci-fi book in which aliens do the whole "visit Earth to communicate with the dominant life form" thing, but they're here for the bees.

This is already at 40% of its goal and it's not even close to the end of the first day ๐Ÿ‘€

Can we hit that goal today??? #IndieBooks #IndieApril

Haha, I admit there might be a reason why bread gets its own day. 8D (Bread is an *art*, imo!)

Mick gets about as many forms as the title character of a magical girl anime, and tbh, my favorite transition of this draft involves his newest and the delightful fact that this story is told in third limited. (Side point: He is *not* human here, no.)

(Most people often don't have the money/time for anything other than what's cheap on the supermarket shelf. If this is about folks who buy shitty bread, then remember that this isn't holding food corporations accountable for making it.) (2/2)

Couple of things:
1. This is a worldbuilding game. We're discussing worlds we've created, not real-world cultures.
2. Really hope that the "most people" comment isn't the accidental classism I see so often in socmed political spaces. (1/2)

Finally, dragons eat exclusively flat breads that they fill with roasted vegetables and meat, but when the zizzun come to Sanctuary, they adopt (and are very fond of) the zizzun challah as well. (4/4)

For the zizzun, when they came to Eldana, they brought with them both pitas (which they eat with their suppers) and two types of honey-flavored challah: one that they eat alone on holidays and the other a braided round that they have for everyday use. (3/4)

For example, the traditional loaf of Champs du Sur, the MC's home province, is a sort of pain de champagne with herbs baked into it (usually rosemary), though restaurants like the Bird & Bard will typically use baguettes. The regional loaf is more for everyday use among commoners. (2/?)

#BonApriltit It's Fantasy France, so of *course* there are baguettes and croissants. :V However, these are not the only sorts of bread Eldanans have. Breadmaking is actually a big part of their cultural cuisine, and each province has their own signature loaf. (1/?)

Day 20: BREAD
What kinds of breads does your society bake? Flatbreads? Challah? Sourdough?

#BonApriltit DAY 20
Time to talk about the ever-present and almighty BREAD. What sorts of breads exist in your society, and how are these lovely loaves incorporated into various meals?

Every day, the temptation to rip out Windows and install Linux gets stronger . . .

Fair enough! But that said, yesssss to marshmallow eggs. 8) That at least we can get here in the States. (Like, imported, even, because British folks keep opening up shops here and selling them. ๐Ÿ˜‚) AND THEY'RE GREAT, NGL.

The Elves don't have any special holidays.

So this is what Kiwis like for Easter (because that was the closest holiday).
Hot cross buns and marshmallow eggs.

For Ordnir's holiday, which takes place in early fall, it's customary to bring pumpkin pie, roasted chicken, corn-based dishes, green bean salads, and roasted chestnuts to the potluck. Basically, anything autumn-y/early wintry, to reflect the harvest. (5/5)

As for the rest of the kingdom, Eldanans celebrate holidays centered around their gods (called "feast days"), and foods often reflect the god of honor. Still, for the most part, food is downplayed for most holidays except Ordnir's, the god of the harvest. (4/5)

For themselves, zizzun will also make cakes and tarts for every holiday, but their harvest holiday always features apples, apple cakes and apple cider. For their spring and summer festivals, they also have sugared flowers and peaches, respectively. (3/?)

I've mentioned in a past post that "honey cake" often means just a steamed cake with a paste filling flavored with honey, and that's one possible variation, but I *also* mean lekach (a spiced, honey-flavored *cake* cake Jewish folk make for Rosh Hashanah). (2/?)

#BonApriltit The zizzun only have a handful of holidays, mostly involving the growing/harvest seasons, and at every one, there's always an offering to their goddess, the First Queen (a giant queen bee). This often takes the form of a honey cake of some sort. (1/?)

Ah man, I hear you! It's my dream to eventually have a home with a dedicated library/writing room where I can keep a vintage typewriter. As it is, though, sadly, they're too bulky to keep around my apartment. :'D But best choice for distraction-free writing, for sure!

It's cool. ๐Ÿ˜ญ I know buying from eBay is always a risk. In the defense of this device, it's great when it works. Like, keys work, screen's clear, everything. It's just the power source that failed. Hopefully, following advice here will fix that up!

1 day ago 1 0 0 0

Thank you so much!! ๐Ÿ˜ญ Getting myself a Torx kit, and hopefully, during the week, I'll make some headway on this!

1 day ago 3 0 1 0

Ah, not yet. I don't have a drill, but I'll definitely look into getting one, if only as a last resort (and because having one in the apartment could be handy for other reasons).

Alternatively, this *does* give me the idea that taking it to a repair shop might be an option!

1 day ago 4 0 0 0

!! Y'know, I wouldn't mind seeing if I could do that, even if it'd mean getting a Torx set. (I should probably replace what I have anyway.) ๐Ÿ‘€ Do you still have a link?

1 day ago 3 0 1 0

I mean. It's okay if you're not 100% sure; I'm just wondering if you can use WD-40 on an electronic.
