i had 13k followers on twitter, thousands of likes on my art. on bsky, i have 5k followers and i am so much happier.

i no longer receive the harassment and insults from randos at the consistency i did on the other site - and yet i still get enough traction here that i can pay my rent through art!

They've come tantalizingly close to nuking the algorithm several times. But it persists...

I know this would never EVER happen but If I was in charge of bluesky, or had any decisionmaking power, I'd completely embrace adult artists. Acknowledge them, what they bring to the site, and brag about them tbh. If the PERCEPTION becomes that "bsky is better for adult art" they win instantly.

Unfortunately you gotta be a little realistic about things like that. They can't stop that from happening, but I don't think they have to. A website's culture is decided by its tools, and the culture here is already moooostly anti-harassment.

Its reached a tipping point where people have completely abandoned the unspoken etiquette rules that have long governed art communities. The website itself pushes people towards attacking others for engagement.

Sure its not a huge flood of people moving over, but a steady stream. LET IT HAPPEN!

The whole quote detach and the fact blocking someone sends all your interactions with them to the aether are genuinely the best parts of this site and help save me from pervasive social media rot.

Things have gotten BAD on twitter right now. It has never been more oppressive to be a NSFW artist. All it takes is ONE quote tweet by a random account to expose your work to people who loathe it. Sure the numbers are big but that's actually part of the problem...they're TOO big.

Bluesky's anti-harassment tools have almost completely nullified the mass reporting harassment campaigns that antis utilize on twitter. You can detach a quote tweet incredibly easily, robbing it of its power. Blocks actually work! This creates a favorable environment for freaky artists.

This is a situation where if bluesky does NOTHING they literally win. Artists are starting to naturally drift over here after having their accounts suspended by twitter. All the mod team has to do is relax a little bit and you will have stolen one of twitter's main strengths, its artist community.

Despite bsky having arguably tighter nsfw rules, twitter is currently a hellscape for nsfw artists. Mass ban waves prompted by puritanical young adults are combining with a crackdown on what twitter THINKS are bots to essentially cleanse the platform of adult art.

Bluesky is now a...safe haven?
