A person I share an employer with is being vile on the internet today, so I think it's important that I (& hopefully other @dublincityuni.bsky.social colleagues) state loudly & clearly that our trans colleagues & students are welcome & supported in DCU. Those views do not represent the DCU community

Cover of The Time beneath the Concrete: Palestine between Camp and Colony by Nasser Abourahme. Cover is blue and features an image of an art installation featuring six human figures in concrete. There is some Arabic text above them on the right. The title is in white at the top of the design, the subtitle beneath that in red, and the author name at the bottom in white.
In "The Time beneath the Concrete," Nasser Abourahme argues that settler colonialism in #Palestine is always as much an attempt to conquer time as it is to conquer land. Read the introduction for free now.

Gendered violence and misogyny are connected but distinct categories. Gendered violence includes policing of (police brutality against) Black & POC boys/men in the global north.
Remember, ‘gender’ as it has been imposed by eurocolonialism divides our worlds into ‘men’ & ‘women’.

It's disturbing that a Handbook of Indian History enacts full erasure of Muslim India & the Mughal empire that preceded the British empire.
And, casteism is NOT a legacy of eurocolonialism. Caste/ism predates it.
The progress of hindu nationalist revisionism is deeply concerning.

A huge number of us are or will be carers at some point in our lives and the lack of either respect or support by so many politicians, including the leader of the country, for the enormous work done and the emotional and physical toll it takes is infuriating. Completely out of touch.
