Thanks, Ben!
The LoPS model provides a quantitative framework to describe complex problem-solving behavior. Stay tuned for our next paper on its neural mechanism! This modelling part of the work was done by Qianli Yang and Zhihua Zhu. The human data was collected by Ruoguang Si and Jiaxiang Zhang.
The grammar of players' LoPS describes how the players use compositional rules to build their solution. Better players have more sophisticated grammar to navigate in a more complex game state space. Furthermore, the players' grammar complexity evolves with learning and explains their performance.
As my first bluesky post, announcing our new paper "A language model of problem solving in humans and macaque monkeys"! Here, we use a language model to examine humans and monkeys playing the Pac-Man game. We call it the Language of Problem Solving (LoPS). www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
