My sewing to-do list is too long. But this is finally off the design wall. Standard stack-n-whack blocks pieced from the fabric on the right. Finishing it is not high on the list though.

misidentified Netflix descriptor screen: text says "tidying up with Marie Kondo" and photo is a person with an assault rifle in the desert

"Because of an editing error, an earlier version of this article misstated which day the New York Mets suffered their 11th straight loss. It was on Sunday, not Monday. Even the Mets cannot lose on an off day."
Two copy editors high-fiving so hard right now
I had to enlarge! Why? That’s amazing.
Pearl, heart, skull, & lock of hair -- this amazing, incredibly poignant memento mori pendant, depicted in a mourning portrait, has actually survived!
The FBI is totally implicated by the DOJ's own logic in the SPLC indictment. I hadn't thought of the possibility that they are laying the groundwork to suggest that the FBI was responsible for Jan. 6 (one of the main narratives of the right), but it is possible
We need a labeler here that lets everyone know.
ACTUALLY WENT TO THE 2026 WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENTS DINNER
I really underestimated the importance of having a secretary of defense, who doesn’t like it when people die
I don’t watch every team, but the Astros are way up there on this scale. The recent losing streak has really shown it.
My team is Texas and our guys are OK, but we have a similar issue. I used to like that Tom Grieve didn’t seem willing to play that game.
WARREN: That's not my question. Are you refusing to tell us if you have investments in vehicles set up by Jeffrey Epstein?
KEVIN WARSH: Those assets will be sold if I'm confirmed

Not going to read it. Just going to assume it's because he's a pedophile.
Fair cop. If you’ve recently show a penchant for breaking international agreements on the whim of your leader, it can make negotiating new agreements difficult.
Madman theory doesn’t work.
Figure showing number of competitive grants mentioning women from 2015-2025. The number was rising until recently, with a precipitous drop in the last year.
At the end of 2024, the National Academies put out a report concluding the NIH has woefully underfunded women’s health research, and they suggested $15 B should be invested over the next 5 years.
Here’s what’s happened instead. Hard to study women’s health if you can’t say “women.”

A friend of mine was killed by her husband in a murder/suicide. They now share a gravestone. And that makes me spitting-nails furious. I wish she'd been able to get away from him. Now she doesn't even get that in death.
Great to know we have an objective jurist who focuses on the merits of the cases before him on the Court
KASUBHAI, United States District Judge: Unserious leaders are unsafe. There is nothing more serious than our leaders' dedication to the rule of law so that we might maintain the integrity of our constitutional democracy. This case highlights a leader's unserious regard for the rule of law. This case demonstrates how disregard for the rule of law does not merely result in an abstract infraction. Rather, and tragically, this case is one of a long list of examples of how a leader's wanton disregard for the rule of law causes very real harm to very real people.
“Unserious leaders are unsafe” is a fucking banger though
If you are as infuriated as you read this as I am, know that Congress not only has the power to fix the abuse of the Shadow Docket but also that the legislation is already drafted. We just need to get it to the floor. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/18/u...
I never want to be a killjoy so I won't get in the way of people dancing in the streets when he drops dead but I think one reason everyone is so thirsty for it is we tacitly understand that to be the only consequence he'll ever face. Which sucks! There should be way more consequences
[April 17th, 1946] The Boston Braves management apologizes to fans whose clothing was damaged by fresh paint during Tuesday's opening game. They will reimburse patrons for any necessary cleaning expenses. Management also guarantees that no sections with similar risks will be open for today's game.
Me to 3yo: What do you want for your birthday party theme?
3yo: “Poopoo & peepee theme! We can get apple juice for the pee, so a skeleton pees and you drink the skeleton pee but it’s okay because it’s juice”
Me: ..K I was thinking like “dinosaurs” but let’s put a pin in “piss fountain of the dead”
An old grave stone.
Ottawa Chief Pontiac came to St. Louis in 1769. He was murdered on April 20 in Cahokia by a Peoria warrior. He was buried south of Walnut between 4th and 5th, now the Stadium East Parking Garage. #FridayFact
IT REALLY SHOULDN'T
"You're just voluntarily complying with this whimsical cosplay" -- holy shit, Tim Kaine is *demolishing* Russ Vought
Both docs should be declassified to the extent possible. We are not doing this whole “secret exceptions to the 4th amendment” crap again or we are going to face a problem of another Snowden-like figure running off with tons of classified docs.
I know, it's done to death but if President Biden had blundered his way into a needless war that then left US service members stranded in hostile waters with food supplies running low, the right would've stormed the White House to tar and feather him
Read that again. This Louisiana bill forces homeless people to choose between jail and "treatment"—and if they can't pay for the latter, they will be forced to perform unpaid labor.
The historical precedents are clear: convict leasing, Black Codes, debtor's prison.
