As a follow-up to last week's post about writing modules, I wrote another post on writing adventures for Cairn, and how that might be different than other OSR systems.

Being restocked at IPR at the moment, but here some info: www.indiepressrevolution.com/xcart/A-Visi...
Being a complete home team shill here, but I think A Visitor’s Guide to the Rainy City is quite enjoyable to sit and read. :-)
I would like to hear from folk, either here or via DM, who have launched TTRPG zine projects on ZineQuest as well as outside of ZQ on comparisons between how those projects went, largely to assess if the benefits of partaking in ZQ outweighed the platform economy "crabs in a bucket" effect it'd have
This has been a long time in the making, but over the moon to finally share this fan-art for the incredible @dicecompany.bsky.social.

For all new followers;
Hi! My name is Chris. I’m the guy behind TTRPG Insider, a newsletter all about games like D&D, Call of Cthulhu, and all the indie TTRPG projects inbetween. I post news about that here alongside occasional personal commentary.

A stack of game boxes: Zhenya's Wonder Tales, Keep the Faith, and Uneasy Lies the Head.
My game got canceled tonight which is always unfortunate, HOWEVER, silver linings, it freed up some time to look over some new games that came to my house in recent weeks! When I can, I like to read new games over and make notes on mechanics I think are cool (ie, see what I can STEAL SHAMELESSLY)
I'm looking for folks to staff my booth at cons throughout the year. They'd need to be familiar with Cairn, obviously.
DM me or email warden@cairnpress.ink if you're interested and I'll send you a form to fill out.
Plotweaver evolves familiar d20 mechanics for a new generation of narrative-first roleplaying. For players, it offers flexibility, deep customization, and character-driven storytelling. For GMs, it supports any heroic action campaign …especially ones where worlds and genres collide! For designers, we’re building a truly open license, a supportive community, and a best-in-class ecosystem to monetize your creations.
Happy Friday! I'm lucky to be working on a lot of exciting projects right now, but the coolest one has to be Plotweaver.
The system powering the Cosmere RPG, Plotweaver is an awesome, flexible ruleset for a range of heroic roleplaying.
We want this to be the best system ever for OGL creators. 1/🧵

Oh wait, I ran a session of CBR+PNK last year as well. Oops!
Whether I get to all the other 2026 RPGs entirely depends on how much the CoC Masks of Nyarlathotep campaign I’m running sucks up all my gaming time. 😂
RPGs I’ve run since Jan 2025: Traveller (2022 edition), Night’s Black Agents, Skeleton System (homebrew for the Rainy City), Delta Green, and Call of Cthulhu 7E.
RPGs I hope to run at some point in the rest of 2026: Coriolis The Great Dark, Twilight 2000 4E, Mythic Bastionland, and Shadowdark.
Meme. Drawing of a medieval merchant with his cart. He has a gray beard, and a wide-brimmed brown hat that is flat on top. Various pouches hang from his belt. We'll call him Vestabeaux. It's what his mother would have done if she'd thought of it. Vestabeaux is standing in front of a handcart or small wagon with enormous wheels. It is loaded down with goods, including what look like large bagels or donuts, and maybe a basket of sticks. Is is on his way to the annual donut festival at St. Albans? We'll say "yes." The cart's wheels are taller than the man. Vestabeaux is leaning on his medieval Big Wheel with one arm, and has the other hand on his hip. He is looking somewhat put out, as if there's a dead walrus in the path in front of him, and he's not sure how to proceed. It's going to be really hard to get those big wheels over a walrus carcass. But if he doesn't, all the children of St. Albans (let alone the monks!) will be donutless, and tearful. Fear not! The resolve in our man's face says he won't let that happen. Meme text reads: "Pay to sell? That's eelogical!"
It's 1400. You've got a cartload of eels to sell in London. Time to get rich!
Hold up there, hoss! London charges import taxes on your eels. You've got to pay The Man:
Murage fees: 10 d./1000 eels
Customs: 2 d./cart
THEN you can start raking in those sweet eel profits!

Video screenshot from Reddit. Building is now a shell with flames visible in every window.
The roof has collapsed embers rise into the night sky.
The fire at Glasgow central station is utterly devastating. Shops, homes and our transport link to England are being wiped out.

First world problems: after having worked out this evening for almost an hour thirty, I now need to get some food in me. But, I’m on a new diabetes drug so I have no appetite whatsoever (three guesses on what it is), so nothing sounds good. Oh poor me, right?!? 😢🙄

A photograph of four people seated around a wooden table. The cards and box for Keep the Faith are displayed on the table, the cards forming a center wheel. Around the table, each person makes a gesture with their hands steepled. In the corner are the words Thank you, TOPCON!
Four people are seated around a wooden table with the box and cards for Keep the Faith spread out in front of them. The cards form a wheel and several of the players hold more cards.
As Keep the Faith nears our warehouses, we are excited to share some recent images from the Theology of Play Convention (TOPCON) hosted by Stony Point Center where participants played the game! (Thanks to @gregisonthego.bsky.social for the pictures!)
🚨HOLY CRAP. An ICE whistleblower just revealed a secret memo authorizing ICE officers to break into homes without a judicial warrant, which DHS's own legal training materials say is unconstitutional!
ICE then hid the memo from the public, passing it along by word of mouth and private conversation.
I try not to say "this is required reading" because that gets old really quick, but I genuinely think this is great advice that will help make you an absolute gem to work with.
You'll get better layout, timelines, and collaboration by following this advice. Give it a read if you can.

They’re seeking participants for interviews.
For more than a hundred centuries, the Emperor has sat immobile on the Golden Throne. The master of mankind by the will of the gods. A rotting carcass writhing with power, the Carrion Lord for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day.

Holding a copy of The Worldbuilding Workshop by Trent Hergenrader and Stephen Slota, showing a cover with a hand holding a pencil above a stylized cityscape. Ooo all shades of purple with a yellow background. Nice…
Gee, look what was sitting in my office mailbox. I’ve been away on a trip to Ireland for the last few weeks, but I’m so bad about checking my office mailbox, it could have been there before I left. 😂 Awesome job, @thergenrader.bsky.social & @steveslota.bsky.social

how did i go so long not knowing we were literally teaching people to read wrong. i knew something wasn't right but jesus christ www.apmreports.org/episode/2019...
ever since I learned about three-cueing I've developed infinitely more patience for replies on social media. mfers literally do not know how to read. people are walking around conjuring random meanings into words they don't know, and they don't know a lot of words. it's crazy
