Glad to see the Australian government on board. Massive milestone today with Bowen acknowledging EV growth is already offsetting the oil crisis. Increasing reserves while demand falls makes no sense.

Now for a solar carport mandate!

How to make a success of Votes at 16 | LSE British Politics Votes at 16 might become a reality across the UK. But that alone won't ensure an increase in the participation of young people in democratic politics.

"Research for the Association for Citizenship Teaching and for this book demonstrates that the GSCE in Citizenship Studies has a statistically significant impact in boosting young people’s political interest, confidence and participation, particularly among those from less advantaged backgrounds."

I get yelled at for saying this but for many hundreds of years people went to university not to get diplomas or be employable but because immersion in the humanities was considered foundational to a good life, and school must return to its original purpose: the joy of learning.

Two neurobiologists win 2026 Brain Prize for discovering mechanics of touch Research by Patrik Ernfors and David Ginty has delineated the diverse cell types of the somatosensory system and revealed how they detect and discriminate among different types of tactile information.

Two neurobiologists who helped decipher how the somatosensory system detects touch and pain have won this year’s Brain Prize, the largest award in neuroscience.

I continue to be fascinated by the phenomenon whereby an expert engages with any of the LLMs on their field of expertise and is instantly horrified by the wrong answers, and then goes on to use it for things they are not experts in as though it won’t be just as bad for those.

Caring for grandchildren is linked to better brain health in older adults Research published in Psychology and Aging finds that grandparents who provide childcare tend to have better memories. The study suggests these cognitive advantages exist independently of how frequently the care is actually provided.

The Teacher as a work of art There are concerning trends in the current educational landscape, where teachers are often viewed through reductive lenses, portrayed as mere technicians or implementers of policy. In this article ...

"Viewing the teacher, as a unique creation, echoes the singularity of original artworks, where the biography of each educator is a rich distinct tapestry, highlighting the situated inventiveness of teachers."

No stupid questions about whether this was anti-Brexit.
Just unequivocal celebration of the chance to broaden our horizons again. A step on the road back to sanity.

Neurovascular and metabolic changes across the AD spectrum, MVD pattern, and polar coordinates representation. A, The normal metabolic state continuum in healthy individuals is depicted by the black line. In contrast, the metabolic state across AD is represented by the orange line, illustrating the metabolic alterations observed throughout the disease's various phases, as proposed by the metabolic reprogramming theory. The red line represents the progression of perfusion across the disease, demonstrating how metabolism and perfusion become dysregulated until they eventually fail. During the hypermetabolic phase of the disease, oxidative phosphorylation undergoes upregulation as a compensatory response, leading to progressively oxidative damage. Furthermore, it is suggested that astrocytosis signaling precedes the onset of cognitive decline. B, Neurovascular and metabolic dysregulation were assessed by projecting the z score SUVR for each brain region onto Cartesian space. The x axis represents the z score changes in cerebral perfusion derived from CBF maps, while the y axis represents the z score change in glucose uptake derived from FDG. Brain regions toward the center of the plane are likely functioning at a normal level. A brain region is considered coupled if both signals are in the same direction (Cartesian quadrants 1 and 3) and uncoupled if they are opposite (Cartesian quadrants 2 and 4). We hypothesize the existence of a regional disease pathway (MVD pattern) that maps the disease progression and can accurately discern the MVD changes, which is: Type 1 Uncoupling → Type 2 Uncoupling → Prodromal → Neurometabolic-vascular Failure. C, Alternatively, Cartesian space readouts can be transformed into polar coordinates to visualize disease progression while preserving the MVD state. The distance from the origin represents the magnitude of the change, while the angle indicates the deviation of the change.

The Public Office (Accountability) Bill - (Hillsborough Law) is having it's 2nd reading right now.

The debate has been opened by the PM.

This is something he has personally worked towards for 15yrs.

It's a tragedy it's taken that long, but it's thanks to the PM & Labour that we are here now.

Calling English a 'rip-off degree' is one of the most blatant exhibitions of personal barbarism I've ever seen. You've demonstrated nothing but the poverty of your own mind.
