Be safe, friend.

The wild part about the Vance/Pope Leo back and forth is that in spite of everything Vance advocates for, he’s still allowed to take the Eucharist. Meanwhile, as someone who is divorced and remarried, I will never be able to experience the “source and summit of Christian life” in good faith again.
Shouldn't have taken this long for the market to turn on Palantir
Spotify put together a playlist called “Happy Mix” and it’s all melancholy tunes with a bop thrown in every now and then.
I’m not sure if Spotify is being ironic or if I’ve shaped my algorithm so much that it believes this is what happiness is.
Either way, I’m not unhappy about it.
Whatever Anthropic’s Mythos model ends up bringing to the table it will do nothing for the events like the Stryker attack last month.
Cybersecurity isn’t going anywhere.
A good friend shared this substack on Autistic/ADHD (AuDHD) burnout with me, and it resonated deeply. Very worth reading for both my neurodivergent pals and for folks who work with, manage, or love 'em.

In this year of 2026 if you absolutely have to run your mobile, international event in America - and you choose to run it in Texas, Tennessee, or Florida, that is certainly a choice that reflects which of your members or employees you see as human.

Events so far:
Whistleblower @chuckborges.bsky.social claims DOGE kids illegally copied your Social Security data
Tech bros at SSA deny it
Then they admit it
Another whistleblower claims DOGE kid took the data to a new job at a private company
Tech bros at SSA deny it
What's next?
It's both disingenuous to celebrate Proton (who are a business making money in a friendly nation) as bulletproof, and to compare them to Google, who make money by mining your email content. Understand your threat model and message accordingly. www.404media.co/proton-mail-h...
I think a skillset the maga movement has always had is the ability to co-opt (and hollow out) the language of the left. It makes sense to me that those who are now “deconstructing” are borrowing a framework the token liberal of their community has talked about in whatever discourse they may have.
This gives me hope. I throw my application at CS whenever I see a role I know I’d be good for and lost count how many times I’ve been rejected 😅
I'm not sure if a long weekend in snowy NYC, bouncing between some favorite restaurants and seeing as many shows as we can schedule helps at all with depression.
I'm willing to give it a shot, for science. Will report back sometime next week!

1. ICE is using Palantir apps to collect biometric data on protestors. I'm working closely with @markey.senate.gov to stop this.
Job hunt continues. A recruiter pinged me and let me know about a possible position he’s trying to get me an interview for. I got the preliminary “partial lapse of funding” emails in case we shut down at the end of this week. So my anxiety is high and hoping I land something soon!
Posting as a proof of life l! Lots of ups and downs 😅
Our power was restored Tuesday night and am thankful for it. Still 100k people without power in Nashville and getting around town is dicey. It’s obvious NES had done zero contingency planning ahead of this winter 😡

Dear 2025, fuck you.
Do better, 2026.
The only real way I have marked the passage of time this week is getting closer to the Stranger Things finale and college football games to cosplay for.
We didn’t have any family stuff until later in the evening and so we took a spur of the moment day trip to Metropolis, IL, the official hometown of Superman.
It’s definitely a drive through town, but I highly recommend stopping by if you’re up for some superhero whimsy.
Merry Christmas, y’all!
If you happen to be looking for bad redactions in a large set of data files today for some reason, there's an open source tool for that.
Journalists are increasingly relying on insider sources, and protecting those sources is more important than ever.
Here's how SecureDrop is rising to the challenge, safeguarding whistleblowers’ anonymity against ever-evolving threats.
Afraid of retaliation and in an increasingly volatile job market, afraid to leave too. It’s quite a bind.
With the 60 minutes leak, the many recent Epstein releases, etc., I think we are seeing the future of government accountability under authoritarianism:
Leaks, hacks, data dumps, releases of big document caches.
Journalists and the public will have to learn how to digest this stuff. 🧵
It absolutely does.
