I know it's hard to have confidence in your work, but putting your foot down when a line is crossed is an ability we are entitled to. We are here to share our gift of creation with the community, and we have every right to rebuff anyone that tries to take advantage of it.

Artists, we deserve respect from our clients, and more importantly, from ourselves. For many of us, this is our livelihood, we shouldn't be making our lives hell to please people, especially any that are trying to cheat us out of money we need to live.

Respect us artists, and we'll be good to you. Some of us will even go the extra mile if you're a courteous patron that respects what we're doing for you. Treat us right, and we'll treat you well in return.

Commissioners, respect your artists and their boundaries. Just because we are friendly and courteous when working with you does not make us friends, that demeanor is just common courtesy, but does not constitute friendship off-the-bat. Friendship is earned over time.

I've been trying to cobble together some kind of statement today cus I tend to avoid stuff like this and don't want to possibly sound insensitive to anyone

But I think it's got some important lessons that people need to learn

Well, with that whole Julia debacle from yesterday finally out in the open, I really hope the folks that she wronged get at least a fraction of the vindication they deserve. That was heinous, indefensible behavior, and I'm glad she's gone.
