But the issue with ragebaiting is that you are completely spineless if you do it, you immediately tank trust and reputation (whether friends or consumers), which is what happened w pantone. You hold no values and when people question your ragebait you deflect and say "haha you fell for it"

Same thing as trolling back in the day (although some trolling was light hearted - ie rickrolling). But ragebaiting has become the new norm, (we see it in politics, marketing, etc) as a way to get attention and be heard over the chaos of modern society.

Like they think they're doing a gotcha but it just makes them look desperate and dumb for saying that thing, but in their mind they won in some way - what did they win?
