I've seen a few interviews with Helen and she is right up there with Eleanor Janega as a new favorite historian. I wonder if she reads the audiobook, hmmmm.
Nononono!!! ๐๐๐๐
Omg ames, I'm so glad you're on the mend - brains are so weird and squishy and delicate, so I'm glad you're taking the time you need. ๐
Right?! I had multiple points where I wanted to hug Robby AND ALSO counsel his colleague on how to make an HR complaint. And that was the show's intent!
People watching The Pitt this season and thinking the show does NOT think Robby is an asshole (due to trauma, but still an asshole!) are so wild to me.
I know there are worse things than a head cold, but I have a head cold so I can't think of any.
Well, the last episode of S2 absolutely delivered 100% of the fan service I, myself, was seeking.
Off to weep gently for a few hours!
#ThePitt
Spoiler: I ended up leaving work at 9:30am and coming home to sleep for four hours. My boss, when I popped my head in her office to tell her I was leaving: "Oh, you got the cold! Everyone's had the cold."
I'm feeling sickly in the sort of way where I know a long nap would fix most of it, but I have to go sit at my desk instead. I do like working in person! I really do! But hybrid had its upsides, including lunchtime naps.
So happy for the people of Hungary right now!!!!!!
Still not sure what my country will look like after another three years of this administration, but I'm going to keep fighting and keep voting because... what else is there?
It's definitely a book about meetings, and planning for meetings, and learning peoples names in meetings, but somehow it hits just right for me, lol.
For super duper nonbinary/trans queer fantasy, you can't go wrong with The Brilliant Death (A.R. Capetta) or LakeLore (A-M Mclemore. really anything by them; it's like poetry).
Did I already rec The Goblin Emperor? It's wonderful but not super gay, but it's companion novels have a queer MC!
It was 60 degrees yesterday so I opened my office window. I then completely forgot to CLOSE it so it is quite chilly in here this morning.
Can I just quit my job and talk to people about medieval history? I don't want a job in that, I just want to do it for fun while eating meals and going on walks. But not to work. No work, just history and pals.
Your job sounds completely untenable and I have been there and it sucks SO BAD. sending lots of love.
!!!!!!!!!!!
"Moon's haunted"
Thing 1: I am sick with a dumb cold and I hate it.
Thing 2: new(ish) job is okay but also I have so little gumption to do any work at all ever that I am nervous I have lost the ability to be productive entirely and forever.
Thing 3: I do have a therapist now, finally.
That is the worst. I am so sorry.
What if I just didn't today?
We already HAD good digrams of shoulder anatomy. We already HAD working internet search engines.
Generative AI's main use case is to un-solve a solved problem.
Finished Deadloch S2 last night and oh my god, what a fucking beautiful show. Hilarious and queer as fuck and also it's a cop show that hates cops?????
If you like queer shit and don't mind the most creative profanity ever written, watch it.
The hottest spot in my tiny town on a Sunday morning is the little bakery that only sells donuts on Sundays from 8-noon. Everyone in town is here!
I am drinking wine alone in our local pub, waiting on a pal, about to eat a giant salad and some tater tots before heading off to see Project Hail Mary.
I wish all days could be like this day.
Dylan O'Brien is really Joshua Jacksoning.
This is deeply hilarious and so depressing.
It's like fucking Send in the Clowns over here.
Oh, wow, I had forgotten that weird bathroom terror!!
