This Thing Between Us by Gus Moreno. It's a surreal horror about grief that's stuck with me for months. Apart from that, I'm halfway through Innamorata by Ava Reid, which is like Jacqueline Carey meets Gormenghast meets Game of Thrones.
saw one of my law school classmates at the grocery store. they said: aren't you excited for the ten year reunion. my soul left my body.
my MONKEY KING story is forthcoming in @khoreo.bsky.social September 2026 issue, Revolutions! it's

I definitely agree with this. I used to be so caught up in the parts of my stories that weren't working. Instead of finishing the draft, I'd get stuck fixing the same early issues. I did not learn much about writing until I forced myself to finish manuscripts I didn't feel 100% confident with.
"For your consideration" poster featuring 2 pieces of Photoshop composite art. One shows a giant octopus grabbing a man, for the short story Patient was the Doctor. The other is a red mermaid curled up in the sea, for the story titled milt. Both stories are stated to be free to read/listen to.

The UK, commonwealth countries, and the EU have similar rules to the US. Outside of that, I'm not sure.
Yep it's considered monopolization 💀
Right. Coordinated business activity among independent contractors can be an antitrust issue. This same behavior is treated differently if you're a W2 employee.
writers can't unionize in the way actors etc. do because we retain ownership of the IP, among other legal issues.
combined with the soul magic and body jumping of WITCH KING by Martha Wells and the ecology, animal behavior, and biological mutation of BORNE by Jeff Vandermeer. It will appeal to fans of Seth Dickinson, Kerstin Hall, A.K. Larkwood, and Tamsyn Muir.

THE DARK SEASON is an atmospheric climate fantasy in the vein of N.K. Jemisin’s Broken Earth trilogy,
Now Cerrida and Evy must learn to master Speech, Tamar’s commands, and their growing feelings for each other in order to prove themselves in the competition, uncover the truth about the botanists’ plot, and save the villagers they’re tasked with protecting—all before the shadow of the Dark Season
As a mysterious plant-based plague spreads through the valley, Cerrida can’t ignore the clues linking the scourge to her botanist brother, while Evy struggles to free her mind of the collective souls fighting for control of her body.
who accepts Cerrida’a offer of apprenticeship while hiding the awful truth about herself: she is a soul jumper—the very thing Wardens seek to destroy.
To make matters worse, a competition between the Wardens’ apprentices is fast approaching, and with no apprentice of her own, Cerrida must find someone worthy of competing—and of working alongside. Until she meets Evy, a sighted shepherdess brave enough to kill a wolf infected with shadow-sickness,
must learn to master his immortal guide dog, Tamar, who she’s inherited along with his title, as well as Speech—a powerful ability to control life with a spoken word—which has diminished after centuries of sheltering beneath the surface.
An illustration of a shepherdess and her sheep on the left and a blind woman wearing a mask with her guide dog on the right. They’re in a snowy wooded area. 💨❄️🐕 THE DARK SEASON
In the wake of her father’s violent death, Cerrida must take up his mantle as a blind Warden of their remote mountain valley to protect the villagers from the Dark Season, a soul-eating shadow which is fast approaching. Without the training she should’ve received, Cerrida

The year is 2035. There are three game studios left. Each one produces a game every 10 years, killing 250+ developers in the process. They all accidentally make the same game because they used genAI in preproduction. They sell 500 million units each, missing quarterly targets. Everyone is laid off.
Our fifth and final day of prompts and also the last day to get those applications in!!!
