A screenshot of an email to Elon Musk at hr@opm.gov. Email text reads:

Dear Elon,

Here's what I did last week:

- Changed my pronouns 37 times, maximizing gender return. I was recognized for this and awarded the "Most Pronouns Award"
- Efficiently did 20 transgender surgeries on children, the best in my unit, according to my supervisor
- Effectively ignored the mother of my childs' desperate pleas for help over our child's medical emergency, thus maximizing my time spent at work being a loyal, hardworking employee
- Communicated with my representatives to issue a formal complaint against a tyrannical boss
- Made excellent use of taxpayer dollars by removing amenities that were just installed with more taxpayer dollars

I plan on continuing until you are removed!

Kind Regards,

If you're in the mood for some trolling, send Elon Musk an email at hr@opm.gov. He claims he will use AI to find the best, so make sure to include corporate buzzwords to increase your chances of being seen! Use a throwaway email.

As things hopefully continue to heat up, try to not bring your phone at all. If you must, power it off before leaving and do not turn it on until you are home. If your phone has a removable battery, remove it.

Follow the instructions on my pinned post to lock down your phone, protesting or not!

Even if you aren't posting anything, scrub the metadata off of protest pictures/videos. You can see when and where a picture was taken with metadata. Remove it then backdate the photo for extra safety. Make sure the site doesn't save your pictures! (imagesmaller.com/exif-remover works!)

Shoutout to everyone who attended a #fiftyfiftyone #notmypresidentsday protest!

REMEMBER:
- Scrub metadata off of any pictures you took, then backdate them
- Don't post pics that contain anyones face/identifying info, including yourself
- Don't post pics to personal accounts

A good guide for protesting. There will be another protest this Monday at all state capitol buildings! Keep your cellphone entirely powered off!

Video

Part 3, in which AOC explains that the calls we have been making to members of Congress this week are having an impact on Republicans and Democrats alike.

Don’t let up.

Keep making noise.

Shoutout to @5calls.org ! I highly recommend this app, enter your zip code and it gives you the phone numbers of your representatives and a script for each issue. Even someone as phone anxious as me could do it! Make your voice heard!

Great additions! Biometrics are disabled automatically when your phone is restarted before the passcode is put in for the first time, so if your phone is off at the time it is taken they cant use biometrics against you. Always better to be safe than sorry though and disable biometrics completely!

DEFEND - Create doubt;
- Do not admit guilt
- Make it impossible for a prosecutor to prove it was you behind the screen at a specific time
- Create doubt in any way possible
- Challenge the legality of the search in the first place
- Hire a lawyer/digital forensic consultant if you can afford one

- If you are multilingual, change your language to your least common one and use your phone in that language
- Bloat your device with junk to increase processing/analysis time
- Carry/use multiple phones to increase case complexity
- Develop code words to use with allies (do not document them)

DELAY - Increase the amount of time it takes for investigators to process and analyze your phone, which buys time for your phone to clear out logs, recently deleted, etc.;
- Keep iOS/Android up to date
- Use a complex passcode to increase password cracking time

1 year ago 0 0 2 0

- Do not use cloud backup services
- Use encryption wherever possible
- Communicate with end-to-end encryption and set messages to self destruct
- Use incognito mode
- Do not put incriminating information in writing or post on social media
- Do not sync web history/photos/etc across devices

DENY - Keep law enforcement hands off of your data in the first place;
- Power your phone off prior to police interaction
- Do not give up your passcode
- Read the warrant prior to surrendering your phone
- Enable settings that increase your chances of pulling off a remote wipe (see my pinned post)

When it comes to digital privacy, I've reiterated DENY - DELAY - DEFEND. In this thread 🧡, I'll go into more detail about what each one means.

Read this before attending a protest today or ever!

#Protests are happening soon. Remember:

DENY - don't bring your phone, don't give the passcode, power off, remote wipe, no cloud backups, no social media posts
DELAY - keep your OS up to date, complex password, use recommended settings (πŸ“Œ post), bloat w junk
DEFEND - hire a lawyer/expert

If you are planning on attending a protest tomorrow (or ever), please check out my account for tips on keeping your phone and digital life safe. I apologize for self promoting, but please spread the word!

Thank you to everyone who is protesting for our country! If you can't attend but still want to support, I posted a thread on 1/30/25 detailing ways to protest from your phone. Stay safe! #resist #50501

- Bring water, snacks, and basic medical supplies. If you know first aid, bring as much as you can.
- Go with a group, if possible. Safety in numbers.
- If someone tries to get you to do something illegal/violent, walk away. They might be a cop.
- Listen to experienced protestors

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

GENERAL TIPS:
- Cover your face with an N95 mask, other mask, or use anti-facial recognition makeup. Hide your tattoos or anything else that is identifiable. Warm, thick clothes for warmth and protection. Safety goggles for tear gas. Bring extras for others if you can.

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

- Communicate and organize with other protesters first in person, then over encrypted voice (use Signal or something with E2EE), only text if absolutely necessary (again Signal, set messages to self destruct). Telegram is not E2EE by default.

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

- If you decide to livestream (bad idea), do everyone else a favor and avoid recording their faces or anyone doing anything illegal. You don't want to be the reason why someone else goes to jail.

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

- Do not take pictures/videos. I get you want to spread the word, but its not worth implicating yourself. Photos contain metadata with GPS coordinates, date/time, and other incriminating information. At the very least, scrub pictures/videos of metadata before uploading.

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

If you have to go by car, drive to a train station and pay for a ticket to the capital in cash.
- Avoid people who are livestreaming. They may be a cop trying to get people's faces or catch people in illegal acts. If they get arrested and you show up on a video, it could come back to you.

Delete incriminating searches and make sure they are deleted on synced devices. Use incognito mode if youre not already.
- Walk, take a cab/train (cash only), bike, or try to use some other method besides a personal car to attend. Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs) track your car's location.

DIGITAL SAFETY:
- Make sure you have nothing incriminating on cloud storage. iCloud backups, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. are accessible by the police without your phone, all they need is an ID. Ideally don't use cloud storage at all.
