If you can't create or add to light because of location or other restrictions, then you have to FIND the light. Once you've found it, use it, cut it. Look for ways to shape the light and scene blocking and movement to the existing light's fullest potential.

When I'm working on a script, I like to attack the editing through the spectrum of emotional states. Write when you're happy, sad, excited, lethargic, pissed off, etc. For me, sprinkling in all the myriad perspectives lets me discover deeper moments in the story.
