Apple TV perhaps is the most egregious offender bc they tried to legitimize themselves so quickly. they had to prove they weren't fucking around, blew money on "high concept" fare with flashy actors and tried to make themselves feel real. but so much of their catalogue is just fucking guff

if you make solid TV, people will watch it, hell or high water. good TV is good TV. yet you have this hunger for original content and hundreds of millions, dare I say billions, invested in extremely flaccid entertainment that needs to be reworked from the ground up, conception to completion...

like I get it, everybody's brains are soup now. we need them consuming new and original content at all times or they'll lose interest.

but is that really true? or is it a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy aided by Netflix's desperate sprint to become profitable (and others parroting them)
