Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has signed a decree establishing Universal Healthcare for all Mexican citizens.
The United States could’ve had this, but people chose economic collapse, cruelty and death instead. I’ll never regret voting for Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris.

I genuinely, genuinely HATE that "cope" has become a negative word, and a noun at that. What one syllable am I supposed to use now to mean "handle a bad thing in a healthy way by adjusting my frame of mind and making choices that ameliorate the stress of the situation"?

If nothing else, seeing how very, very NOT alone you are can give hope and courage.
Hope and courage are not luxuries. They are prerequisites to effective action. Cynicism and apathy masquerade as superiority and righteousness when they are anything but.

'Interior, Mrs Mounter.' (1917) With its reflective mood, Harold Gilman’s painting suggests a comparison by Scandinavian artists of the time including Hammershøi; Gilman's influence came from visiting an exhibition of Danish painting at the Guildhall Art Gallery in early 1907.

I saw the LA production last year. It was fun
Cat people what up with the word scritches? Every time I read it it claws at my consciousness like a thing that should not exist. The cat pics are mad cute. But scritches?! Idk why but I hate it
The two most universally powerful, life-changing skills you can learn are:
1) How to enjoy things.
2) How to endure what you cannot enjoy.
If you master those, there is nothing else you cannot learn or do.

The most common age for a Black person in the USA, is ~27 years old.
The most common age for a white person in the USA, is ~58 years old.
Old people need more healthcare.
So you would think that white people in the US would prefer policies that lead to more nurses and providers?
But no.🤷🏿♂️
i think what people are really circling around in this particular slapfight is two visions of how resistance works
1: we're going to out-tactics the government and create a secure organization that defeats them on the field
2: we're going to create spectacle which mobilizes the masses
4 horsemen of the apocalypse astride horses in bright yellow, purple, red and green robes explaining to two kids “the whole apocalypse thing got a bit too depressing so we’ve reinvented ourselves as the four horsemen of working together to get us all out of the mess that we’re in”. Their banners say “hope, justice, empathy and just basically not being a dick”.

I feel this! I teach art to kids and they love anime, which I’ve always hated. The narrow range of facial expressions, the copy paste oversized eyes. It’s like a series of symbols that stand in for character and flatten creative choices. But they’re so beloved I feel like a jerk.
I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

I've seen some similar projects, but IMO this seems to better capture some of the fine-grained detail
With these algorithms incentivizing rage bait and conspiracies though, it feels like not a fair fight in the market of ideas. I know so many people who got radicalized by algorithms. Anyway, thanks for reading all this. It’s been fun to think through this today 2/2
