i think music production as the medium highlights the gaping hole in the argument much more obviously than with still visual media. the art argument conflated the art process with the artistic result and said "we made a thing that spits out a picture, that's the same"

i find it's mostly fine it all still works, it's just annoying. it was wildly unnecessary to pitch it as a whole new release of the game and also completely compatible while managing neither, and charging $80 per book. and yeah the greed and underwhelming product was just tip of the iceberg.

not a big change like an edition change. but it being a patch note where every little thing got changed in some way to justify releasing a whole new 3 core books. the mass of tiny changes overwhelming the ability to parse the few major changes.
