Stepping back and thinking about it for a second and you’re right. This thread was poorly thought out and probably too self-serving. It’s not the tone I want to convey so thank you for calling me out.

And increased velocity plus existing poor practices have led to more outages and wanting to slow down.

However, because of my own experience and the tight reviews I require of my team, I probably don’t put enough credence into the newfound blind adoption by others.

Yeah it’s probable that I’m more than a little naive and ignorant about the adoption issues other teams have been facing.

I’ve been under the assumption that the underlying issues were preexisting, weren’t the result of Ai, but are being amplified by the introduction of it.

Also yes, Ai has warped the minds of some developers into ignoring practices and shipping at all costs. But I think this is the exception and it’s weird to see it as the default reaction.

And yes, sometimes there are poor processes in place, and accelerated agentic development has done a lot to highlight this. But often those poor processes would’ve resulted in similar issues with or without agent assisted coding.

I’m definitely not Ai-pilled, but seeing people blame every outage, defect, and bit of poor ux on vibe coding is shortsighted and exhausting.

Sometimes there are outside forces. Sometimes humans make mistakes.

Same. If I micromanaged junior engineers the same way I micromanage LLMs I’d probably be fired for being too suffocating

I wonder how many people making “AI is causing the outages” claims have actually built software. Removing guardrails to fast track code or moving too fast to give code appropriate review could cause issues, but that’s a process issue, not an AI issue. And it’s NOT a DDOS issue.

We’re seeing that with our 4 month old, but what’s wild is that we’re seeing it even more with our 2 year old. He’ll suddenly wake up with a brand new vocabulary and start speaking in multi word sentences and we’re like where did that come from!

I saw the movie two weeks ago and the looping had eventually stopped. But alas, the reminder has returned the earworm

Looks like they bought these assets too and are following the playbook

responding ”vibe code?” to every outage like women named carol respond “vaxx?” to every celebrity death

Having the index like an article hero is a really cool touch!

This led to the 19 year old living a double life of lies while his parents are left figuring out who he was and how it happened.

Now I’m only ~100p in and there are some hints that he may have some deceived some very powerful yet unscrupulous individuals. So tbd how dark it gets.

Any story centered around a death is some degree dark so ymmv. However thus far it’s focused on this kid who thought Jordan Belfort was someone to emulate rather than an antihero. All set in the backdrop of how London’s history allowed for an influx of foreign oligarchs and pockets of extreme wealth

Don’t know if you saw or not, but Patrick Radden Keefe has a new book that just came out a week ago: London Falling. Just started reading it and already pulling me in.

For me it was 58-37 over Detroit followed by the disappointment the next week against Dallas and walking home from my neighbor’s house in the middle of the blizzard of 96. I was 8 at the time. Might have had more before than but that’s the first one that jumped to mind that I remember vividly.

Novel idea - what if we actually displayed the content/functionality to users instead of hiding it from them?!?

(I’ve had mixed results pushing back against overlays by framing it in this context)

I don’t have a takeaway either and am just reflecting but I enjoy working on products where I can talk to people and get feedback I can incorporate into the product rather than blindly implementing some pm’s feature request.

The human centric approach is more difficult but has all the fun problems

Conversely, I spend so much time thinking about my next meal, what I'm going to cook next, what new recipes to try, what I need to get at the grocery store, etc, that it's amazing I have time to get anything else done 😂

Can confirm the high taste to effort ratio, but suspicious of the fact you thought there might be leftovers

I think I counted four times where you said “I don’t want to” where he ignored that and said you’re wrong. Overconfidence without comprehension.

My 2yo absolutely loves taking his Matchbox cars and having them go down slides. Living vicariously through him has been a blast!

If they’re anything like my 2yo, the scenes with the turtles will be a big hit!

Bonus, now I can kill time by walking him through the pet store because he’ll run up to every fish tank shouting NEMO!

Coincidentally, I do have plans to continue grilling the next three nights AND it is definitely one of my happy places. So you might be on to something!

Grilling season is in full swing. And this chicken with an Alabama white sauce might be the best chicken I’ve ever made! 😋

When the kids are driving the decision, sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta to do 😂

Early dinner followed by dessert later after the kids go to bed. Gives me time and space to really enjoy it!

(that said I’m not really a dessert person so it’s usually a special treat lol)
