It’s very hard to put a valuation on like.. “micro walk, and without getting hit, forward or backwards” for example but it can radically change mix risk reward or footsies options for self or opponent

It’s very liberating as a competitor to just view every patch as a new puzzle to crack

A forced start of “mine and theirs” will feel bad as soon as you realize they got more - and the math is ugly for games with 20-30 characters, they always got more

They have legitimately been making dart board patches for longer than many of you have been alive

New Strive update hit and I’ve just been getting in there and pressing throw for the thrill of it, no cancels no nothing if I’m wrong I should take 70% this is what it’s all about

I’ve also found there’s a lot of deeply underrated mid tiers in every game that can actually be 5-5 or even 6-4 in important matchups, or I can turn the 4-6 - so depending on the skill ceiling, I might be happy to play the character I like most anyway

Something I really appreciate is many players on characters that got hit by weapons grade nerfs are already steeling themselves for their new reality and posting “it’s ok, my character is fine”

Whether it’s real or delusion, you absolutely need that

Play what you believe in

Try other characters, especially the ones you think got buffed or got away with it

A competitor has to kill the idea that “there’s a different character I should be playing”, and it has to happen early

Half hearted, distracted low-mid tier efforts have never worked

The Strive patch is actually so good

I’ve said a few times “I gave up on the game when they launched HC and I forgave them when they gave me Asuka” but that’s because they’re both freaks that live outside of FGs
