4. Donuts is one of those albums that rewards through endless replayability. Ive loved this album since the first listen but what originally started as a loose group of beats morphed into a (intentional or not) self-portrait of J Dilla. Creative, funky, and boundary pushing, no ones done it like him

3. Talk Talks Laughing Stock is a very world weary album. After a career of beloved synthpop, this album and its less depressive predecessor abandoned catchy anthemics in lieu of patient but beautiful performances. The revelation of New Grass is one of the most moving pieces of music Ive ever heard

2. Since I Left You is the perfect producer led album, creating a dance mix so good its got a plot. A truly bottomless list of samples makes the sound and texture of this album truly one of a kind and endlessly replayable, its luxurious and wistful and also makes you want to dance your brain off.

1. Glow Pt 2 is just such a potent album I cant quantify it other than comparing it to sheer forces of nature, gale winds, searing sunlight, cold blusters of night wind. It can be both painfully intimate and endlessly vast, stumbling through the woods of this album to the offkilter beat of its heart
