Final Fantasy TCG Locals - April 20th, 2026 Another Monday night, another round of FFTCG at the shop. Tonight, I elected to pull outย  The Twelve , because I'm still trying to feel out...

More FFTCG for me today! Tonight, I decided to pull out The Twelve to give them another spin for the first time in a couple of months.
A 6-color deck is still a bit weird, but it was also so much fun.

Absolutely incredible.

NASA Astronaut Reid Wiseman, who commanded Artemis II, took this footage from the far side of the Moon with his iPhone.

Watch with sound on.

It's been so interesting to watch this unfold. Barnes & Noble and other big book chains shut indies down in the the 1990s (and on) and then Amazon came along and ate up all the book market share. Now people tired of big corporations are creating demand for more indies

A screenshot from Fredia McFadden's Facebook page. The post is broken up among the next three screenshots. This one says:

Recently, I saw an article about myself and when I looked at the comments (big mistake, I know), I was stunned to see tons of comments from people saying not only that I use AI to write books, but also that I admitted it! This is blatantly untrue. Actually, I have said multiple times that I do NOT use AI both here and in official interviews, but maybe I've been too subtle? So I'm just going to be clear once and for all:
I DO NOT USE AI TO WRITE MY BOOKS. I WILL NEVER USE AI TO WRITE MY BOOKS.
I'm not sure how I could make it more clear? Do I need a larger font and neon colors? Maybe flashing words? Or is that too 1999? (I actually don't know how to do any of that in FB so this will have to do.)
I started writing when I was 9 years old (WAY before AI, before even laptops, back in the time of the abacus) and all I wanted was to someday have something I wrote published. I started self-publishing in 2013 because I just wanted to hold one of the books I'd written in my hands. I didn't want to be a professional author... I was already a physician and had no desire to leave. This has always been a --

It says:
and had no desire to leave. This has always been a labor of love for me, and the idea of farming it out in any way makes no sense to me. This is what I love doing! Would you get AI to do your hobbies for you? Maybe you could get AI to go on a cruise with your family? Maybe AI could eat that chocolate cake for you?
Even though I'm more aware of it when it's happening to me, I know so many authors have been plagued by AI accusations recently. Both traditional and indie authors have faced it, but it's far worse for indie authors. Traditional authors have all the power of publishing houses between them, but one major thing that indie authors have going for them is that they can write and publish quickly. They have been doing this well before AI existed. (I am fiercely protective of indie authors because that's how I got my start.)
Now it seems like practically everything is "evidence" of AI. Writing more than 350 pages per year? Clearly AI, even though authors like Danielle Steel, Nora Roberts, and Stephen King have been doing it for their entire careers. An em dash? That's clearly AI, even though most authors are obsessed with them *raises hand*. A typo? Clearly AI, although I can't think of anything more human than making a stupid--

*raises hand*. A typo? Clearly AI, although I can't think of anything more human than making a stupid typo. That's like noticing someone is bleeding and saying it's proof they're a robot.
I've heard authors say they need to livestream themselves writing their books just to prove they did it.
I find this state of things really sad. Being an author is hard in so many ways. You have to put yourself out there and leave yourself vulnerable to criticism about your deepest thoughts. And now, on top of that, people claim that the work isn't really yours because it's "impossible" to write more than one book per year.
Look, there are a lot of things I can't do. I can't run more than a mile. I can't play an instrument. I can't speak more than one language. I can't throw a ball in a way that doesn't make observers snicker. I can't understand how a tomato could possibly be a fruit. But I *am* able to write several books per year, and so can many other people. Let us have this.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Someone sent me this post this morning and I thought I'd bring it here so we're not driving more traffic to fb.

But Freida McFadden came out to defend herself against her use of AI but also defended prolific (nonAI using) indie authors.

This is unsustainable.

- How long can rich f**ks keep ๐Ÿ’ฉing on the rest of us before thereโ€™s a wave of Daniel Moreno-Gamas & Luigi Mangiones & people marching en masse to their residences with violent intent?
- Who will have money to buy products if weโ€™re all jobless?

This canโ€™t go on.

I've only been around since right about The Bloody Banquet, but it has been an absolute blast watching your journey.
Your absolute glee and excitement (and sadness, and fear!) about everything the game has thrown at you has been so amazing to watch.

Thank you, for sharing your journey with us.

AI star symbol.

It's funny (not funny) how this ubiquitous symbol screams 'beware, incoming trash!' I have an instant reaction of revulsion whenever it pops up.
