I try out the Marvel Tarot tarot117.wordpress.com/2026/03/25/m... and learn I don't know enough about comics for it to add anything for me, so invent my own Guardians of the Galaxy one and do the reading from that instead. #Marvel #Tarot #Cosmic

Hah - was going to add YBINYB - then saw you'd put it on the list. I did not know there was a sequel arriving. Will keep a lookout for it.

What really enhances the sense of being with others in a space is caring. And they don't understand that.

... because as a mode of being in it is determined by its fundamental structure, care." Mitda-Sein is Heidegger's 1953 word for copresence. The experience of copresence is one of the key drivers for engagement in metaverses. But while techbros create platforms that enhance that sense through tech -

So - working my way through my notes on "Being and Time" I came across this, which might explain why some metaverse platforms succeed and others don't. "the Mitda sein of others encountered within the world (could be taken) as concern. Being together with is taking care of things...

VWBPE 2026 KEYNOTE :: Mark Childs YouTube video by VWBPE

My keynote at #VWBPE last Saturday www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvKm... I'd recommend starting in at 16 mins, which is when i really started to get into my flow and making more sense. People that stuck it to that point did I think get a lot out of it.

You could say that Rock n Roll was born 111 years ago today in Arkansas, but probably not where you'd think. Before there was a Chuck Berry or Little Richard, there was those who wanted to be like her.

Rosetta Nubin better known as Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the godmother of Rock was born on this day

I may be missing something here, but it seems very odd for someone to admit in public to tossing to his colleagues, or even (frankly) to doing it. Is that a normal thing at CBS?

Extraordinary that this is exceptional - we're so used to lying in politics that we just accept it. Not sure how you'd demonstrate it or enforce compliance, but just showing it's unacceptable is a step forward long overdue.

Aleister Crowley: "the lesson which statesman should have learned, and have not; that if one goes on fighting long enough, all ends in destruction. Ruin can never be complete ... one begins to build up again. When all the Governments have smashed each other, there still remains the peasant"

Any institution advertising a role like this has no concept of their responsibility within the academy. It's ok for other places (in their view) to develop people academically + for them to take from that, but not to contribute to any further development to pay it back. They don't deserve employees.

I guess the difference is ... community. I always feel a proper human connection in SL, and didn't when I dropped into Horizon Worlds. Maybe it's only third person platforms, where you don't feel your experience is being co-opted by a huge tech company like Meta that can supply that.

... but then I never used Horizon Worlds, and am still using Second Life, so maybe it isn't. 🤷‍♂️

This on the heels of AltspaceVR disappearing a couple of years ago. Not sure why someone would use a new flatscreen metaverse when there's plenty of more established ones (Minecraft, Second Life etc around). I'd have thought a headset-VR based metaverse would be the next sensible step ...

Horizon Worlds Is Dropping VR Support, Going Flatscreen-Only Meta's Horizon Worlds is dropping VR support in June, meaning it will only be available as a flatscreen experience for the web and smartphones.

So a few months back Meta screwed up a personalised bit of the VR experience by removing the landing environment I'd chosen and replacing it with a generic one that had direct links to Horizon Worlds. Now they're withdrawing VR support for it. www.uploadvr.com/meta-horizon...

My keynote is on a phenomenological framework for VR which i'm working on at the moment. "Working on" being the operative phrase - it's very much a work in progress so it'll be mainly me asking for tips. Which is setting a keynote of some sort I suppose.

#VWBPE So .... this is a thing #SecondLife timings are PDT. PDT is UTC -7 at the moment, not -8 as it usually is because the USA and the UK clocks go forward at different times. Which nearly caught me out.

Actually - though i usually prefer revivals to reboots I think starting again free from the Whedon influence as much as possible would not be a bad idea much as I love the original cast.
