The power of beautiful resources
I think itโs important to think about beauty when we are evaluating resources we use for teaching.
This isnโt about taste, itโs about value.
Our pupils deserve the best.

I also think play is of equali importance- immeasurable but vital.
This is a photograph I took in Vietnam in 2010. It will forever remain in my episodic memory. ๐ง โค๏ธ
While I may remember this ladyโs face and teeth, I cannot recall anything about the Vietnamese tradition of teeth blackening (semantic memory). ๐

Why we shouldn't be making things too easy..
When pupils going into Year 6 were asked what they thought about ability tables, their responses related to the level of interesting work they were given:

โ Do the resources we offer pupils privilege thinking over task completion?
Sometimes work is completed but pupils haven't really learnt it.
โ Are they likely to lead to mastery?
Are pupils likely to be able to do something in a new context as a result of what they are learning today?
