No two classrooms are the same, and neither should be the humans teaching in them.

Teaching is very much, a humane endeavour.

The power of beautiful resources

I think itโ€™s important to think about beauty when we are evaluating resources we use for teaching.

This isnโ€™t about taste, itโ€™s about value.

Our pupils deserve the best.

โ“ Do the resources we offer pupils privilege thinking over task completion?

Sometimes work is completed but pupils haven't really learnt it.

โ“ Are they likely to lead to mastery?

Are pupils likely to be able to do something in a new context as a result of what they are learning today?

It's enjoyable

So we think it can't be work

Cognitive science and learning the curriculum:

Given the amount of research that has become available to us in the last few years, there are some great gains to be made if we take account of these when we are considering how to help our pupils learn the curriculum.

It doesn't matter what type of feedback you provide.

1. Students need to TRUST your feedback

2. Students must KNOW HOW to act on your feedback.
