Palantir Has a Human Rights Policy. Its ICE Work Tells a Different For years, EFF has pushed technology companies to make real human rights commitments—and to live up to them. In response to growing evidence that Palantir’s tools help power abusive immigration

Palantir touts its human rights policy. But its tools help ICE run dragnet raids, detain people with no criminal record, and retaliate against protesters. Legal boilerplate is not human rights due diligence. www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...

A grey blue washed image of a bearded young ish white guy looking into the mirror all serious with his palm pressed against it.

A serif font title reads: DID I JUST ARGUE WITH A JOKE?

There was a time when short form social media (at the time, Twitter) was a productive place to think out loud and in conversation with people and for the last year I have held out hope that it cools continue being that but to be honest, I do not think this site (or Threads!) serves me in that way

Decided to order several different books from my local bookstore out here instead. I know most of the books I read or want aren't usually even on their radar, but I also want them to continue to exist.

Sometimes just being there is enough.

I left facebook five-six years ago, deleted my account, and then had to reconnect to find community during the start of the pandemic because it was where people were. Deleting twitter wasn't a complicated decision, but man I still miss some of the people.

I read Cory Doctorow's Enshittification recently & it's so relatable. If threads/instagram hadn't kicked me off the platform for a relatively mild meme post, I'd probably still be there.
I still find myself missing the community I had there, that is still there, while I am here. It's hard to leave.

great article "Programming has a sexism problem. There is a history of women being not only the first programmers and the first computers, but also of them being actively pushed out and expunged from the historical record..."

SOLAR: How to Get Started and Why You Should I put solar on my roof three years ago, and since then, I’ve helped plenty of solar-curious friends figure out the options—there are plenty (and you don’t need a PhD in Environmental En…

I used to think that solar "just" threatened the political power and profits of power companies and their fossil fuel suppliers (including the fact that they use your electricity $ for climate disinformation) but it's actually even more radical than that...

I finished it this morning and holy shit what a book. This years locus mag award list is SO full of incredible reads.

I've read nearly all (but two) of the fantasy list and they're all books that have stuck with me ever since.

Absolute banger of a list, you should read them all.

How exciting.

Once the 2026 @locusmag.bsky.social awards list came out, I looked for books I hadn't yet read.
The perfect purple cover of The Raven Scholar by Antonina Hodgson called to me. I put it on hold, & as I did I made an offering to the Skip the Line gods and was rewarded with an abundant boon. #booksky
