By choosing a very short name "Meta AI" and keeping it focus on _just_ that, all the algorithm really sees is "AI". Give the algorithm a few days and thanks to the focused name and the existing momentum Meta AI will enter the top 5 results.
There's more to this...
2. The name:
everyone's fighting over the keyword "AI", with a popularity of 75/100, but ChatGPT and Grok don't even have it in their name because they're "too cool". They make up for that mistake with lots of new ratings, but Meta can beat them without all of those ratings...
That the algorithm already knows of the app, which will help it index faster. And they'll need that for the *other* important change they made π
And not just a ton all at once, the algorithms hate that, they need a steady stream like the kind Meta View already had.
Not many... only 54 new ratings in the US App Store. But that'll probably change quickly.
The other benefit is π
When it comes to discovery, launching a new app requires a lot of energy to generate momentum. Meta has the capacity to do that with paid ads, but organic discovery is a different ball game.
Even for Meta.
To show up next to ChatGPT and Grok, the leaders, Meta needs ratings π
1. Reusing an existing app instead of making a new one:
Even though Meta is branding this as a new app, under the hood it isn't. Meta repurposed Meta View, the companion app for its smart glasses, as Meta AI.
Why? π
Meta is finally taking on ChatGPT, Grok, and DeepSeek π
But as the new kid in town it needed to do something clever to be able to compete for discovery. And it did!
Here's how and what every developer can learn from it π (a very short π§΅)

Here are all the extra languages you can use:
1. Arabic
2. Chinese (Simplified)
3. Chinese (Traditional)
4. French
5. Korean
6. Portuguese (Brazil)
7. Russian
8. Spanish (Mexico)
9. Vietnamese

Before we get to the list you should check out Jade, a voice-first AI with fun and educational activities, like learning a language or creating stories.
apps.apple.com/us/app/jade...
Now... full list below (I promise)
In the US, the App Store reads 10 localizations and indexes them all for search purposes. That means that you, like Jade, can use more keywords to get discovery.
How to do it + a full list of languages you can use in the US in the post below π
Jade uses English words in the French localization, which the App Store in the US reads and indexes just like it does the English localization!
This isn't "illegal" or "blackhat ASO" just good understanding of the algorithm.
Curious how it works? π
π¨π¨π¨ How did this app rank #1 for a keyword it doesn't have in its name OR subtitle when competitors have theirs in both???
You have to look real close, and when you do, it's *very* obvious. But if you still can't see it, let me show you: (a very short π§΅)

Anthropic also advertises Claude on the iPhone with Search Ads - across ~40K keywords according to @appfigures data - but it's more expensive there so they rank #5...
Apple Search Ads, but with a twist!
Anthropic targets iPad users with Apple Search Ads - where the bids are cheaper - across more than 47,000 keywords in key countries.
Strategy: Create an ASA campaign for your app targeting iPad users to save π°
What about iPhone? π
Claude is now making $1M a month. Here's the secret to how it can compete with big names like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Grok:

Itβs wild that LinkedIn is the highest-earning platform on mobile. Just wild!
I know Bluesky is also working on that. Letβs see if itβll make a dent
If your an Appfigures user say hi and weβll give you a follow π
DeepSeek might be on π₯ right now but its App Store launch wasn't a match for ChatGPT in the US.
It didn't beat Copilot or Gemini. All three launched with substantial ad campaigns though, so it's not a true comparison.
