I deserved that

Honestly, being a copyeditir is *exactly* like being a doctor. You think you're off duty and then...
The dreaded "rn"/"m" typo. Bam. Right in your face
Can we never rest 🙄

I'm highly biased, but this is *such a fun* novella. Get an advanced peek and post a review.
Niche editor bugbear: Cannot wrap my head around citation styles that include publisher CITY but not PUBLISHER.
Who is that helping?! Why would you do that!

In some NEWS, we have a brand-new book for you all to get hyped for 📖💥
The Girl Who Was Tuesday by Beatriz Seelaender is a chaotic meditation on autonomy, and individuality set against a veggie-based murder mystery. It's quirky, original, and a little bit batshit.
Just learned—due to googling something I #amediting —that baby's breath is an invasive species in my home province of British Columbia.
Which I find so ticklishly delightful.
Baby's breath, that old delicate yet life-ruining fiend.
Exclamation marks in published writing are a whole other ballgame, agreed. Should be as rare as a mountain lion sighting!
I don't write, but edit! Mostly art stuff.
I can tell life is really wearing me down, because I use at least 40% fewer exclamation points in my comments and emails then I did two years ago.
An exclamation point? In this economy?? etc.

You know you're in editor mode when you google your own name to check its spelling in the acks 😆 #amediting
Oh look!
This is tattoo-level truthfulness right here. Write it in the sky!
As a language nerd, I've come across lots of recent content on cult language (and cult tactics generally) being part of fitness and self-care realms. Such as this Crash Course: youtu.be/c7wCbbmLtiI
I'm pretty sure 30 is the age all ghosts are too, so checks out! Happy birthday!!
I hate Google Docs. That is all.

Merriam-Webster’s human editors have chosen ‘slop’ as the 2025 Word of the Year.
Cartoon drawing of two rabbit-like spheres, one sitting and one hopping
the rabbits outside my office window have achieved a near perfect roundness
I've always been critical of the whole "millennial grey" thing. I'm not so sure it's a generational preference so much as a spontaneous physical manifestation of an ever bleaker world?
A definition of "footstock" from Merriam-Webster that reads only: "tailstock"
If you say so, @merriam-webster.com 🤷♀️

An announcement featuring the face of Diachroneity Books' latest author, a white man with glasses, a brown beard and brown hair. The text reads: Diachroneity Books is pleased to announce its newest author Ian Goodale.
You should prepare yourself immediately for some mole-related weirdness across five planes of existence.
Plus a sky infant

@ivacheung.com I know you're Canadian. I've lost track of who all the other Canadian editors are in the Great Twitter to Bsky transfer though :(
Fellow Canadians who probably at *some point* bought bread at a Loblaws establishment between 2001 and 2021: Don't forget to get your bread crime money, by Dec 12!

"Goad" has got to have one of the best synonym lists of all time:
spur, prick, needle, beset, chevvy, chevy, chivvy, chivy, egg on, encourage, harass, harry, hassle, incite, jab, molest, plague, prod, provoke, stab
*Chevvy, chevy, chivvy, chivy*!! And ... stab??

This is exploitative model is largely the fault of Ghislaine Maxwell's father, Robert Maxwell.
And academics have to literally pay up to make their books open source. Mafia dons!
#amediting a text about a 1689 Mexican play that's like "Hmmm you think we're weird for sacrificing humans, yet in your religion you eat Christ's flesh and drink his blood? OK then."
People have always been critical and clever about religion (and colonialism), we just reaaally don't learn about it
