Also British walls are cold! Idk if I have just lived/stayed in cold places but for a country with their climate I did not experience as much insulation as I would have anticipated!

It's more that it'll deliver a hell of a shock, whereas 110 is just less oomph. But it is also more efficient, and ours isn't lower for safety reasons, it's lower because that's what appliances/light bulbs could handle (the US was a very early adopter of electricity; UK installed a bit later).
