For those who were a little frustrated by hearing how stunning the Moon looked to the Artemis II crew but being unable to share in real time here are a few highlights which don't include the Earth! Source: www.nasa.gov/gallery/luna...

Wishing the crew a safe return and reentry.

A huge thank you to NASA for allowing me, a Brit, to share the lunar fly by. As a teenager watching the Apollo missions I dreamt that one day I might do the same. Not to be but it’s been wonderful to relive those experiences once more. With luck I’ll see lunar footfall again in a couple of years. 🤞

Easier for NASA to sell the crew activity as science rather than as an expression of our common humanity and our legacy as explorers who dared to come down from the trees. I’m loving it. 🥰

Christina Koch describes how, just for a few seconds, the view of the Moon drew her in and she felt overwhelmed and could think of nothing else. I think we’ve all experienced a similar emotion with the special other person in our lives. 🥰

I have to chuckle at Mission Control keeps talking about PCDs (portable computing devices) while Reid comes straight out with it and says iPhone. 🤣

If you don’t have access to a telescope try to lay your hands some powerful binoculars and use those to look at the Moon. Try to get the focus as sharp as you can and support yourself and your hands well. Maybe start with a crescent Moon. It’s a jewel in the sky and changes from day to day.

If Trump tries to claim ownership of the Artemis II mission remember he’s a lunatic. 🙄

I get why NASA are pushing the “science” theme on the flyby but it would be startling in the extreme if the crew observe anything new, especially if the Easter Bunny gives them a wave. 🤣

For me this is all about mankind finally regaining its mojo. Lunar ops can’t be a profit centre for decades.

Alegría’s Power Track Rush | Cirque du Soleil YouTube video by Cirque du Soleil

Quintissential Cirque but the reworking (2nd half of the video) loses a lot artistically and musically for yours truly. Alegria is still in my top five Cirque shows though and I'd recommend it to anyone as an introduction to what the Cirque du Soleil is all about. 😍

The latest outburst reflects rather badly on the USA. For those who don’t know I’m employing classic British understatement.

While sceptical of the need for orbital datacenters if they could be consolidated gently into a singlet “moonlet” at the end of their lives that might actually be useful in the long term. Maybe if the profit actually funds the million tonnes needed on Mars for a future colony the whole idea works?

Musk and others are talking of a million server satellites. Assume a service life of 20 years meaning 5 million satellites per century. Are they going to be left in orbit when dead? Just as bad would be de-orbiting them. Mr. Musk, neither Earth’s orbital space nor its atmosphere are your trashcan. 🤬

Nice to catch a glimpse of the Moon rising tonight just before I retired. Of course Orion was still just below my local horizon as the capsule aims for where the Moon will be on Monday. 🌙

A successful TLI burn isn’t my only birthday present but it’s my best one. 👏 👏👏👏👏

I wish those in the world who relegate women to inferior roles could see and learn from Mission Control at Houston - just one example of many. But, of course, they are so blinkered in their prejudices that they would likely learn nothing.

Those of us of a certain age remember all of the Apollo moon missions. My biggest worry about reliance on SLS in the plans was that it would make this round of missions similarly unaffordable so it was beyond great to see Jared pivoting NASA into a new and hopefully sustainable stance. 🤞

After 30 years plus of use it was finally time to retire the Sabatier bread knife in favour of one of Japan’s finest. Now that’s a knife! 😱🤣

Jeremy Bowen: Trump is waging war based on instinct and it isn't working One month into the conflict in Iran, Trump's gut-instinct approach is not proving effective, writes the BBC's international editor.

Nice to see that the Beeb still employs journalists of this calibre. Well worth a read if the subject is of interest.

Switzerland's Schwaller defeats Canada's Einarson to capture gold at women's curling worlds Switzerland's Xenia Schwaller defeats Canada's Kerri Einarson and her rink out of Manitoba's Gimli Curling Club 7-5 in the gold-medal game at the World Women's Curling Championship in Calgary.

I nearly missed this. Four young women in their early twenties ruled the world. Magical.

For the one tenth of a person reading this whose AV receiver upmixes stereo to a 5.1 or greater speaker system and who has an Apple TV 4k box you will need to disable the new Continuous Audio setting in tvOS v26.4. It fools the AV receiver into thinking it is getting multichannel audio, not stereo.🤬

Ultimatums, diplomacy and a trip to Graceland as Trump eyes a deal with Iran America may be a nation at war, but the president's activities have been a mix of diplomacy and diversions - with the occasional swing toward the surreal.

Is Trump planning to invade Graceland? Maybe someone should tell him it's not near Iceland. 🤣

Great race nevertheless and I wanted to watch Jess Diggins’ last race. She’ll be much missed as she moves on to the next phase of her life.

Back in the dark days of Covid American TV would add crowd noise to empty NFL stadia. Watching today’s 20 km women’s cross-country skiing from Lake Placid I’m hearing the same annoying woman’s scream all the way around each 4 km loop. 🤬
