Hi Thomas, if I understand correctly, psychedelic-induced vasoconstriction reduces brain flow all across the brain. Which would reduce BOLD signals across the board. Does that not make BOLD signals caused by psychedelics even more significant, because we are filtering out the more subtle changes?

PS: We still recommend you use 1 R2drive per silicon probe, which can be then used for multiple implantations.

And we record the video, so that we can trace all the R2drives we ship. As a result, we can learn more about the life cycle of our R2drives in your labs. And improve user support.

Shuttle movement is evaluated from 2 angles, to ensure smoothness of the drive mechanism (there is always some 'wiggle' due to manufacturing imperfections of the guiding screw).

Well, a sliver of fun on an otherwise rough situation.

Sounding the alarm on pseudoreplication: Q&A with Constantinos Eleftheriou and Peter Kind Most studies of neurological disorders in mice erroneously treat multiple samples from a single animal as independent replicates, according to a new analysis. But scientists and journals can take…

A statistical error known as pseudoreplication appears in more than half of recent mouse studies on neurological disorders, according to a new study. Peter Kind and Constantino Elfetheriou tell Lauren Schenkman why researchers should pay attention.

Northwestern has not received any NIH funds since March. No written communication about why or what can be done. Thank you Ben Singer for raising awareness at #ATS2025

Kilosort4 detects a LOT of neurons, I recorded 15k neurons in one year 🀯 Traditionally, one would curate these detected units to see if they are well isolated single neurons. This is not feasible anymore, so today let's look at three options that are out there to automate this process! πŸ€–πŸ‘‡

I hate the direction lab equipment design has gone in recent years.

I don't want touchscreens, I don't want wifi integration, I don't want centrifuges demanding to know what time zone they're in.

I just want reliable instruments - with physical buttons - that do the one task they were made for.

Nice study! Any plans to try out awake scanning in future? We're currently helping a couple labs establish awake headfixed rat scanning. It's still early days (no papers yet), feel free to get in touch if interested

3Dneuro – Tools for brain & behavior neurocircuit research

Hi! We are 3Dneuro - a small band of neuroscientists who hunted spikes in behaving animals for years before saying: This has to be easier! We design electrode drives, implant systems and behaviour setups that are robust, easy to use, and open-source. Or: Ephys for everyone! Check us out: 3dneuro.com
