A month ago, on a podcast with the @sickoscommittee.org, we came up with a story idea so good we started sketching it out during the episode: How much money does every school's mascot make in a year.
The highest-earning mascot brings in over $130,000 a year.

Former Wisconsin system president Jay Rothman said he was blindsided by the board's efforts to push him out. Sources tell me that's "bullshit" — that Rothman had lost the confidence of campus chancellors and threatened to quit multiple times.

So why was Jay Rothman fired? One source told @byjoshmoody.bsky.social he had lost the confidence of the chancellors in the system.

Rothman is out in what one Republican state lawmaker called a “blatant partisan hatchet job.” More from @byjoshmoody.bsky.social

Something is going on in Wisconsin as the system president said the board told him he needed to resign or retire. And the board won't tell him why. @byjoshmoody.bsky.social has the letters from Rothman in which he said he won't step down.

An important life update from me on this week's episode of The Key: I've finally watched K-Pop Demon Hunters. www.insidehighered.com/podcasts/key...
I don’t love April Fools, but it’s fun to see the creativity and effort that colleges put into pranking their students. Here’s @j-alonso.bsky.social annual roundup.

The Green Line Soccer gamer from a bummed-out Audi Field, where the Washington Spirit worried the Portland Thorns without actually creating real danger.
Olivia Moultrie showed them how it's done, giving the visitors a 1-0 win to open the NWSL season.

Its not far on the metro!
Unless it's spending less on Olympics sports, or that's how it seems
So I watched Trump's college sports roundtable, so you don't have to. As college leaders warn that college athletics is running out of time for reform, they want the federal government to do something to help.

Some of the institutions where fellowships were canceled—as well as those listed as potential replacements—never received notification from the Pentagon, these universities told Inside Higher Ed. It’s unclear if any did.

The arrest of a Columbia student shows the limited options that universities have in resisting ICE agents, especially if they won't follow protocols. Advocates are urging college leaders to demand that federal lawmakers hold ICE officers accountable.

White text on a black background that says: A better way to end your ride. You asked, we listened. Starting today, Capital Bikeshare members can park ebikes near full or nearly full stations for free. Here's how it works If a station has three or fewer docks available, members can park their ebike within 40 meters of the station, and we'll automatically waive the $2 out-of-station fee, so you can lock up and be on your way.
Great news for those of us who bike to Audi on game days
A team of skilled Zamboni drivers and technicians at the Winter Olympics keep the ice in the arena at the right temperature and thickness for competition. The challenge? Each event needs a different kind of ice.
Great name!
