I get that completely.
It is tradition for me to make a ref sheet for my sona every year, and it always takes me weeks. It ends up being worth it in the end though, in a way.
They were barely used for artist references, however, they wound up serving as my measurement for my artistic growth instead!

This is such a mood.
I think ref sheets tend to take longer because, aside from the multiple times a character is drawn there, you have to make it as good looking and refined as possible in order to make it a strong reference.
