This is one of the most important photos I’ve ever seen clearly this dog needs to be most valuable player of the week for the conference 😉

Certainly, all of you are welcome to enjoy women’s college sports… But I understand why you aren’t quite nearly as invested this particular girl dad
Apologies to all of the non-parents and non-lacrosse-parents to whom this evening I explained the intricacies of both conference & NCAA bracketology as we head into the last week of college women’s lacrosse conference play. I really can’t think about much else at the moment.
Gold standard science am I right?
Just finished up one of those evenings when you’re surrounded by people who share your desire to make the world a better place for (military) children, and in spite of [waves hands at the universe] am feeling really good about things.
Fill your cup, recharge your batteries, we have work to do.
💯
Not surprised in retrospect… but I was today years old when I learned that the very first influenza vaccine was specifically developed by the US Army for use and troops because it was such a problem for force health.
Civilian vaccination came later.

Actual influenza infection is awful. Many people conflate the flu and other seasonal respiratory virus “colds”- definitely not the same
There is a reason why US military has been at the forefront of vaccine development. It comes from lessons learned in misery and woe, death and mission failure.

Whether it’s preventing hospitalization, lost school/work/duty days, or limiting transmission to others, the flu vaccine is something I will continue recommending as both an individual and force health protection measure.
Even an imperfect flu vaccine offers demonstrable benefit.

Wisdom as an academic comes with experience & age. It looks like: not arguing indefinitely with co-authors over semantics and wordsmith-ing when you will just have the same arguments with the peer reviewers so you might as well save your energy for that.
Oooof
A row of five hanging baskets, full of purple flowers are lined up along a wooden floor in a hallway
All the hanging baskets inside tonight 💪
We’ll see similar results in kids.
“…growing body of evidence that seasonal COVID vaccination can play a role in reducing disease burden & associated costs, and it highlights the value of increasing vaccination coverage at a time when US public health leaders have downplayed its importance”

Oh….
Mine as well!
Iris cristata. A small clump of a plant- deep green lancet shaped leaves studded with purplish blue, 6 petal’ed flowers with a central white dot.
Foxglove. A plant with numerous broad leaves low to the ground has two vertical stems shooting up laden with flower buds that have pink flowers starting to peek out. A single flower- tubular shaped is already open. Woodland phlox, a delicate plant with soft pink flowers, can be seen in the foreground, and Iris cristata, both blue and white in the background
A jack in the pulpit plant, a vertical picture shaped flower with central white stamen is beginning to show its characteristic vertical purple striping inside the leaf flower. The “pulpit” of the flower is shaded by a three loved leaf. A yellow Celandine poppy flower can be seen in the upper left corner of the image, dropping into view of the foreground
Good morning! I hope your morning is off to a great start. Please enjoy a view from my curbside wildflower garden.
I hope you enjoy watching this bumble bee at least half as much as she enjoyed this creeping phlox
Tough but fair

Trying so so hard to keep it together
Also…. Why does the Secretary of HHS need a six person security detail walking through wha looks like a government building.
