With so many physically disabled people living on S.F. streets, what happens to wheelchairs during sweeps? Take a trip to downtown SF and it’s impossible not to notice the sheer number of seemingly homeless people navigating the streets via wheelchair or walker.

by my count of the city's bag-and-tag data, the city removed and stored 22 manual or electric wheelchairs and approx. 21 walkers during encampment sweeps in 2024. it doesn't keep track of any mobility device that's simply thrown away www.sfchronicle.com/opinion/sole...

Contrast fluid may be the worst thing I've ever had to consume

I took my bike down the elevator at Civic center with a woman in a power chair and we got trapped by a busted new fare gate. One panel stuck open, one completely locked in place. She was ready to go back up and "try a different station." I eventually got it to open by holding the open panel closed long enough for the sensor to think it was closed and ready for a clipper, and then she could tailgate me through. I probably picked up an extra excursion fare for my trouble. Absolutely incandescent with rage at this system. If this were an emergency she would have been trapped in the elevator cage. The reflection in the pillar outside the gate shows that it was disabled in both directions

Extremely cool and good that BART's zealous crusade against fare jumping has brought us gates whose failure mode traps disabled people in a cage. If I hadn't been there a woman in a power chair would have had to go all the way back up and find alternate transit. Full details in alt text.

I wish! For better or worse, the UI over there is extremely bare bones, and you can't block accounts. For the most part I like how simplistic the interface is. If they added a block feature and a way to view your watch history it would be perfect.
