The orcas can't do everything, after all.

Doubling down on business as usual shows a stunning lack of imagination. Transitioning rapidly to renewables is clearly what the plant needs AND will create new jobs. A just transition won't leave anyone behind but provide retraining.
The concept that Canadians don’t understand successive governments have taken our natural resources and sold them to private foreign companies…
Had anyone in a position of power during the Cuban Missile Crisis acted this stupidly, we’d all be dead. www.bugeyedandshameless.com/p/the-stupid...
Picture of street filled with people when cars are prohibited, with a prominent sign saying “road closed.” Via Urban Truth Collecrive (Also, it’s a street, not a road)
How come they keep spelling “open” wrong?
Does that street look closed to you? Only if you’re a car… and presumably that’s the real problem. #UrbanTruth
"When you pick up free secondhand items, you not only save them from landfill – you reduce packaging waste and the greenhouse gas emissions associated with manufacturing new goods," said Adam Mueller, Operations Manager of Public Works & Solid Waste.

Fun day talking to middle schoolers about why native plants are so important for insects and birds! #frontenarchbiosphere #mastergardeners
Many govts hope capturing carbon from power plants burning wood will cause "negative emissions." New Nature Sust. paper today finds this likely increases emissions for decades, generates no negative emissions within 150 years, and increase electricity costs ~3.5-fold.

I agree FOI is incredibly important. Just wondering whether that's a prevailing view and if it tends to be partisan.
I suspect there was more outrage over spending taxpayer dollars on a jet which was a highly visible impact than on blocking FOI which is more nebulous.
Crossing the ocean was "impossible" until it wasn't.
People escaping violence in Lebanon are being turned away from shelters or left unprotected because of who they are. No one should face danger when seeking safety. Call for equal protection for all: a.allout.org/s/WnLJ5/
I don't recall any previous transformative technologies that had to be sold to the public so hard. No one in 1999 was going, "Guys. Cell phone? It's coming, whether we like it or not. I think it's important, FOR WOMEN ESPECIALLY, to learn about cell phone. So that we're not left behind!!"
Oh I get that. But it isn't rational when the world is burning. They could make money in renewables instead.
"If we don't get our resources out of the ground expeditiously in an investment-friendly regulatory climate, we are going to miss this window one more time..."
I'd like to choose a different window with a better view, please.
I will never understand why we continuously double down on oil and gas when we have the tech and knowledge to shift to renewables. We could lead the world through a transition instead of down the garden path.
Frontenac County Council has formally voted to oppose the proposed high-speed rail routes that would pass through Frontenac County, preferring instead routes along existing rail lines or the 401 corridor.

A woman sits in her car next to an electric charging station. A black-and-white cat sits on her lap and looks at the window.
I understand that. In urban areas there are alternatives to driving. Transit. Cycling.
Electric vehicle rebates would certainly help. Charging is actually less than gas - even at high speed chargers. (I am sitting at one right now!)
Critical Atlantic current significantly more likely to collapse than thought
Scientists say finding is ‘very concerning’ as collapse would be catastrophic for Europe, Africa and the Americas

IMPORTANT: “$30 million an hour: big oil reaping huge war windfall from consumers, analysis finds. Climate action blockers [excellent term] including Saudi Arabia, Russia and major fossil fuel firms set to make extra $234bn by end of 2026.”
Remember that when we’re pressured to drop tiny gas taxes.
Heat pumps are the most efficient heating technology ever invented.
They harvest and compress pre existing heat in the air, ground or water and transport it where it is needed.
That energy is all around us.
And it does not have to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
Looking forward to connecting with youth about the essential role that native plants play in our ecosystem! #ygk
Let's make up the difference by cancelling oil and gas subsidies.
And there are some strong challengers for the title.
