Tell me you know nothing about where and how the 1918 Spanish flu epidemic started with American soldiers. And killed 45,000 of them - along with something like 75m other people.

Yes, good. Renewables will bring us cheaper energy. The transition is painful but decoupling prices from gas will be a huge help too.

This. This stuff is the biggest threat to democracy I think we’ve ever seen. It’s manipulative, secretive and unethical.

These organisations pouring money into political targeting of voters are shadowy and not aligned with the interests of ordinary people in any shape or form.

You couldn’t make it up, could you? They’ve only just given up arguing how useless it is but even they can’t keep that one up when nearly half our usage is provided by renewable sources.

Richard Stupid Tice would like to clarify that the £100k in tax he hasn't paid is different to the £92k tax he hasn't paid or the £600k tax he hasn't paid. Just in case anyone didn't appreciate the extent of his tax dodging. I mean fiscal prudence.

Thank you for that. Interesting as I’d seen US MDs and wondered about the equivalence. He’s research lead for cancer vaccines too! 🫣

A medical doctorate as differentiated from a doctorate of philosophy, we are agreed. And no of course a PhD is narrow and deep. It’s not possible to move knowledge forward on wide fronts any more. Doing one teaches humility - you realise how little you will ever be able to truly understand deeply.

I think this guy is an oncologist so with a medical degree not a PhD doctorate! Which is even worse!! And although your point is taken a PhD thesis has to advance knowledge not just regurgitate what’s already know.

And up with this we will not put. This Labour govt have an anti democratic heart which will see them out at the next election. They’ve lost their way entirely and betrayed the people of the UK who voted for a change from Tory oppression and austerity.

Accusing British Old Age Pensioners of being ‘terrorists’ for peacefully holding up a sign objecting to Netanyahu’s Genocide.

It is a perversion of law, language, and common sense.

It is totally anti-democratic .

Exactly this. There’s good in the world yet when we can band together and point clearly at evil. We can build renewables, we can build new, better alliances, and we can let evil old empires to die.

They should take some bleach with that. I need some for my feed.

The Iranian people let down. Again. And the new, but more of the same, regime will be stronger than ever after this. The only hope is that the rest of the world can somehow improve relations given the refusal to join this ridiculous narcissistically macho action against them.

A bit of good Old Testament smiting would not go amiss right now!

Not without a large fine.

I’m no respecter of churches but this is absolutely spot on. It’s an ugly display of disrespect and staggering ignorance and lack of self awareness. Nothing unusual for this ridiculous regime but still.

Yeah, that’s not a great move for them tho hence the resistance. Businesses have full rent and repair leases and become responsible for the building. Residential is getting greater protection not less so not their ideal market to say the least. I bet they have plans tho. Company housing?

Oh it’s more about the commercial rental sector and who owns most of the city centre than coffee shops. I don’t believe that one at all. It’s a diversion from the real concern. But AI will kill it deader than dead. They’re too late and the 0.01% aim to skin the 10% along with the rest of us.

Can I just suggest if a shiny orange fat Jesus arrives that you take up your bed and run?

I swear this is behind the dislike of retirees too. The increasing pension age is of course a financial issue but they also don’t like the idea of good years spent not in the system.

There’s something linked to this that is tied to their mania about “ordinary working people” escaping control in any small way. The back to the office thing has a skein of hatred that is not just about property values. WFH is skiving if it might make the world better in any way.

Reform. Nothing to add.

The Iranian regime is bloody awful but they’re playing a blinder really aren’t they? This made me chuckle.

Let’s get this right. OK with rape, misogyny, felonies, bankruptcies, failure, illegal wars, war crimes, cages and camps for people, ICE shooting citizens, media control, The White House demolition, gerrymandering, corruption and an insurrection but no Jesus memes. Got it. 🤯 US is a basket case.
