‘Living Nostradamus’ predicts that ‘the worst is yet to come’ with ‘biggest threats to global security’ The psychic claimed that cyber threats are one of the “biggest threats to global security” and warned of the issues around using technology and cyber war.

If all it took was to make these predictions, I too could call myself The New Nostradamus.

Below is a user message asking for alt text, followed by Claude's response describing the utensils. The interface includes a copy button, retry button, and thumbs up/down feedback options. A decorative orange asterisk icon appears in the bottom left corner, with a note about Claude's potential mistakes at the bottom.

One of my favourite use-cases for AI is to generate ALT-Text for images that I post on the web. Claude does an excellent job of analysing images. Check out the Alt-Text for the image below.

It's Alt-Text all the way down.

What just happened A transformative month rewrites the capabilities of AI

"A year ago, GPT-4 felt like a glimpse of the future. Now it's basically running on phones ... This isn't steady progress - we're watching AI take uneven leaps past our ability to easily gauge its implications."

Our technology stacks - what products we use for different problems (Kitchen Table episodes vol 2) - On the reg Inger and Jason catch up at the kitchen table... in Casa Downs this time. The sound on this one is ok, considering we were in a huge open space downstairs! While Jack Downs washes Inger's new car, she…

In Australia, Boxing Day is usually spent recovering from a food coma and watching either the Boxing Day Test (cricket) or the Start of the Sydney Hobart yacht race. If neither of these things appeal to you, why don't you listen to the latest episode of On The Reg podcast?

Inger is a fan of giving people the ‘illusion of choice’ - by giving 3 options they think they are in control, but really, you have reduced their options from ‘whenever’ to three specific dates.
Get in front of it and control the decisions otherwise their lack of planning will become your emergency.

Also, don’t wait. Create a sense of urgency by going on the front foot: “I know we need to work together, but my calendar is filling fast. I’m down to 3 available spots - which of these work for you and I’ll lock it away. The longer we leave this the less likely I’ll be able to fit your preference”

Got out of bed today? That’s a WIN.
Brushed your teeth? WIN. Took a breath and tried again? LEGENDARY.

Depression makes every step feel impossible, but you are still moving.

THAT’S HEROIC. 🛡️🔥

Wow The Rock GIF ALT: Wow The Rock GIF

I just had one of those "Holy Crap" moments. I experimented with Google's Gemini AI to create a video from one of my documents. It took the content of the document, suggested scenes in the video, put in transition and other effects, suggested a script and narrated the script over the top. 90 seconds

Woot! Thanks for listening! That’s amazing! Recording the last ep for the season shortly - stay tuned! 😊

Opinion | Bosses want to kill off working from home. There’s just one problem with that - The Sydney Morning Herald

I’ve been following Nick Bloom’s work for a few years. He’s always been a strong promoter of WFH benefits.

I can’t imagine ever going back to the soul-crushing commute.

When Your Workouts Turn Into a Work of Art Using the maps from his daily runs, Duncan McCabe took the Strava art trend to new heights by creating an animated stickman that has become an online sensation.

This is brilliant. Man creates animated stick figure on the streets of Toronto by repeatedly going for runs in his neighbourhood and tracking his runs with an app.

Screenshot of my Health App showing I only managed 2 hours and 21 minutes of sleep.

Flying to Brisbane this morning for a workshop with University of Queensland. I always seem to struggle sleeping the night before I travel. Last night was no exception.

Tips on how to combat the inability to sleep are welcomed.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of working with the ECRs from the Monash Law School. We took a tactical look at what we can do in the day-to-day maelstrom of work to gain some control over our day.

Today, I've consciously decided to revisit my amount of Work in Progress and renegotiate. #calm
