My new bike frame came!
But FedEx left it outside on a busy street.
But my friend went over and put it inside!
There are currently 2 bikes in the stairwell of my work. Both are mine! Which is nice because I have the space but less nice because I'm the only one biking to work :(
“Kings had always been involving and impoverishing their people in wars, pretending generally, if not always, that the good of the people was the object,” a young representative named Abraham Lincoln wrote in 1848. This was “understood to be the most oppressive of all Kingly oppressions and they resolved to so frame the Constitution that no one man should hold the power of bringing this oppression upon us.” This quote, incidentally, is immortalized on the House’s website, if any members of Congress are looking for it.
In fairness it’s not like the consequences of having a mad king unilaterally take the country to war on a whim were so incredibly obvious that you could see it coming from the 18th and 19th centuries www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

Getting a med check at my normal large outpatient facility, and was told they don't carry covid vaccines any more? This is basically a mini hospital with labs and radiology and all that. seems crazy to me?

They’re burying the weirdest part of this story, which is that this congressman’s twin brother keeps trying and failing to replace him in various jobs and is now hoping to replace him in this one

Here too, senior politicians want to water down climate protection measures (as if they were ever taken seriously), e. g. continue to allow combustion engines... even though the transport sector now accounts for a quarter of CO2 emissions.

On the occasion of Elon Musk pretending that he reads books, I thought I’d reshare my “100 Best Books On City-Making Ever Written” article in @planetizen.bsky.social. It’s 12 years old and needs updating, and got plently of debate back then, but I’d still recommend most of these. #UrbanismBookClub
