My current strategy is searching desperately for something that is easy to draw, that I like, and gives me a dopamine hit so I can at least keep drawing. Any other artists with #adhd have tips for making a hyper focus obsession more sustainable?

I’m trying to keep the obsession from waning as I approach the end of this last year but I feel it…

I was diagnosed late in life with adhd, which explains why I’ve had an obsession cycle with art of 1 year on, 5 years off my entire life.

I’ve been trying to switch to a Wacom intuos pro from my iPad. It’s harder than expected. They’re something very satisfying about doing art on the iPad but I want to be able to use photoshop and aseprite :/

Don’t let the desire to make “good” art stand in the way of making art.
Make bad art earnestly and joyfully. Pour your heart into poorly executed, derivative creations. And maybe it will end up “good” eventually or maybe it won’t, but either way you got to experience the magic of creating.

My drawing skills have gotten really rusty so I’ve been focusing on my sketchbook the last couple of weeks. Here are a few that look vaguely human. The rest of the sketches are a real horror show.

Awesome, you should pick it up again! I did the same in school and rediscovered it as an adult. A lot of pixel artists will use 64x64. I’ll sometimes double that to 128x128 if I need more detail, but starting smaller is better. Check out Pixquare or respite, they have mobile versions.

Yeah that’s what I was going before. Apparently Bsky does this for you automatically if you attach video but select a gif instead, so not full support. There’s just no way I can see on an iOS device to actually select a gif when attaching a video.
