My son Oliver just went to "admitted students day" at both Bard and UVM. Bard's pitch was sort of exciting and thrilling...casting the students as elite doers and thinkers. UVM's pitch at the admin level was very dry...but then once he got to the actual professors it became astonishingly personal.

Haha yeah. People can actually feel sort of embarrassed/judged sitting there in front of the blank page even though no one is watching. I know cause I’ve felt it. It takes a certain force of will to overcome.

A lot of people are kinda scared to try writing even though they may have the urge. It’s kinda intimidating. But hell, there’s no reason not to give it a shot. It only hurts a little.

honestly I get tripped up by the fact there just >aren't< any The Beatles of other generations. No other band compares to their impact on worldwide culture, not even close.

As far as stylistic journey, I don't think Flaming Lips or Pavement changed much in comparison either.

Wearing brand new adidas while recording my new album with my new band The Small Potatoes. We just laid down tracks for FOURTEEN songs in four hours. A heroic vocal feat since I had to do each one like four times.
