Hegseth saying “The Pharisee Press” should be a fully mask off moment. He is saying “The Jewish Press”. But Christians of all political stripes are so devoted to using Pharisees as a rhetorical prop that liberal Christians regularly insist it’s totally fine, no matter how many Jews try to explain.

The University of Technology in Sydney is poised to close community radio station 2SER-FM. Here's my opinion piece in the Sydney Morning Herald, arguing that it would be pure folly to do so.

Chris Bowen to begin Cop31 climate summit president's role remotely
Chris Bowen's role as president for negotiations at the Cop31 climate summit in Turkey later this year will kick off remotely.
With the fuel crisis raging and Bowen giving daily press conferences on the government's response, the climate change and energy minister said he would not fly to Berlin next week for the Petersberg Climate Dialogue, an annual meeting of representatives from about 40 countries.
A spokesperson for the minister said he "considers his travel carefully" and would not fly for the meeting hosted by the German climate action ministry on Tuesday and Wednesday.
"In this instance he will take advantage of the virtual attendance and continues to engage closely with all his international counterparts.
Australia will also not be represented at ministerial level at the first global conference on transitioning away from fossil fuels in Colombia starting next Friday.

Australia's energy minister is skipping global meetings on accelerating the phase-out of fossil fuels because he has to stay in Australia to deal with the fallout from not phasing fossil fuels out fast enough.

I’d rather an evil fool than a competent villain.

A political cartoon by Megan Herbert showing an assembly of renewable energy solutions - solar panels, battery storage, high speed rail, electrified truck freight, EVs and charging infrastructure, wind turbines, and bicycles - put together in a shape that resembles a military tank. A different approach to a massive increase in military spending that would increase Australia's security and sovereignty in times of global unrest.

ICMYI: As part of a Guardian investigation, Sean Craig & I looked into clandestine neo-nazi "Forest Fights" — hooligan-style brawls on a secretive Lynchburg, VA compound hosted by neopagan hate group Wolves of Vinland, with fighters from the active club network, Patriot Front, and the Hammerskins. 🧵

When considering fascists, it is important to remember that their idiocy and incompetence is a blessing. It would be so much worse if they were actually good at what they are doing.

You do not want to have to deal with competent ones.

Sobriety: a virtue for anarchists, but a vice for an FBI director.

Even alcoholism and incompetence are virtues in the right hands.

my unpopular opinion is that we're better off with Kash running the FBI and we should hope he keeps his job as long as Trump does

Some of us are looking at the data rather than making stuff up to fit narratives, learned professor. This is the lowest Labor primary support since Scullin in 1931-34, or really since the 1901 election if allow that Scullin's support was artificially low, most of NSW voting Lang Labor.

You absolutely SHOULD NOT go around telling people that data centers are full of gold, silver, palladium, copper, and that the data centers are almost entirely unstaffed.

Government advisory group urges delay of NDIS 'robo' changes The federal government has been urged by its own NDIS advisory group to delay the rollout of a controversial new way of determining support plans for participants.

Instead of submitting evidence of their disability from doctors, participants will be interviewed by an assessor, who then feeds their findings into a computer program.

That algorithm will then spit out a budget to be approved or rejected by an NDIS employee www.abc.net.au/news/2026-04...

The US blockade is a hostile act, not just towards Iran but towards the entire world, including Australia. Energy supplies, food supplies, jobs, all hostage to the whims of US military power … and Labor wants to keep us tied to them. Unbelievable really.

Second BearCat armoured vehicle to join Tasmania Police fleet The addition will boost police’s response to dangerous situations…

The total count of Tasmanian cops shot and killed at work during the last hundred years is one. They are far more likely to shoot themselves than to be shot at.

So obviously they need an entire fleet of armoured vehicles.

It’s impossible to explain this without recognizing that western discourse is structured by fairly sharp distinctions as to who is fully human and who is not. Once you realize that, however, you are bound to become very frustrated about the issues and sensitivities that get the most attention

For decades now, Muslims have been slaughtered for being Muslims by the world’s most powerful military powers. In the west and Western Asia, the principal victims of expulsion, ethnic cleansing and genocide are Muslims. Open Islamophobia is largely permissible in the west. Few fret over this
