Please, beat us at predicting population trends. Fun game to test your intuition and see how you compare to trained models!
Great news - tropical forests are resilient!
Long-term research in Ecuador's Chocó rainforest shows that nature bounced back quickly after deforested land was abandoned

Yes, I agree with you, Maria, that the system is the real problem, and pushes for misusing AI (and other tools), but AI is especially easy to misuse.
Another great quote "Serendipity doesn't come from efficiency. It comes from spending time in the space where the problem lives, getting your hands dirty, making mistakes that nobody asked you to make and learning things nobody assigned you to learn"
Dando charlas. Explicando que esto se acabó. Que hay que cambiar. Que es bueno cambiar. Que podemos cambiar.
Empieza el No Normal Tour. ¡Te esperamos!
'The real threat is a slow, comfortable drift toward not understanding what you're doing. Not a dramatic collapse. Just a generation of researchers who can produce results but can't produce understanding'
What a nice post on AI, education, learning, research and academia

Bee documentary poster
The new bee documentary is out today in Disney+. Our buzzing bees did make the cut at the end! It is really nice to see the clip of how bees use previously collected nectar to pack pollen even in nectarless flowers! There are lots of other cool things in this two-part film!

I am not sure... looks a bit self-centric...
It could be cool to measure Spain's contribution to large databases (TRY, CropPol, Panthera, Biotime, you name it) proportional to its size, budget for science, etc...
Many journals require data and code sharing. Yet code is still rarely shared and datasets are often hard to reuse.
Our new paper introduces the @sortee.bsky.social guidelines for data & code quality control in ecology & evolution, developed by 26 experienced data editors.
